My child use to attend this school, he was struggling in his studies. I had brought my concerns to the teachers and administrators many of times, but because they are not equipped to handle issues of learning disabilities my son's situation was not diagnosed at its earlier stages. It took a total of 6 years at CWSCS including pre-K, 2 years at other schools and he repeating 6th grade to be diagnosed correctly as having ADHD. Wasted money, efforts, countless enrollments for summer school did not find the problem with my child. CWSCS are not equipped to detect children with learning difficulties. Luckily with my persistence in seeking help we are at a better state and he is making improvements at another institution that did not fail him.

My son is in second grade now and his 2nd year at this school, the staff is wonderful, a varying curriculum I feel could be slightly more challenging, the teachers COMMUNICATION is excellent, you will always be kept abreast of yours progress, the class rooms are small, the principals know every students, we pay 350 a month and they do offer financial aid, there is a mandatory fundraising fee of 300 per year and the school requires some parent participation, there are after school and before school programs, there is a uniform policy, gym twice a week and breakfast and lunch, as long as I am in chicago, my son will continue to attend the school

I taught in 2 Chicago Public Schools on the West side for 11 years, and I have had the privilege of working at this fine school for 8 years. From my vantage point, there is no finer educational experience on the West side. My children, 4 of them, have attended CWSCS as well so I speak from the teacher's perspective as well as the parent's. I love being a part of a community - not having children bused away from their neighborhood. This school serves its community and raises the bar. CWSCS believes in service learning, cross-cultural education, cross-grade relationships, leadership, diversity, and environmental responsibility. The parents at this school invest in their child and their community which means this school is constantly improving and so is the neighborhood. This is where a village raises a child!

We have 3 children at CWSCS, and we are so pleased with the progress that each of them is making. The teachers care deeply about their students. I was so impressed when my son came home excited about reading because his teacher helped him find books that were interesting to him. She would even read the book too, so that she would have something to converse with him about. I also love the fact that my children are safe emotionally and physically. The teachers manage their classrooms with structure and discipline, so that the students can learn and not goof off. Thanks to CWSCS, my kids will be well prepared for a high performing high school.

We feel so blessed to have found CWSCS. My children are receiving a challenging education but are in small classes. The teachers know my children and where they are academically as well as socially and emotionally. The school has that small town country feeling because the administration and staff are accessable and they work hard to create a sense of belonging for all the students and their families. It also has the rigorous standards of a high performing elementary school in a big city. We would recommend Chicago West Side to anyone.

I am the mother of a second grader and I have been blessed to be able to send my son to CWSCS for the past two years. CWSCS offers a safe environment that focuses on strong education (both general and Christian) as well as the development of social and leadership skills. CWSCS is a safe-haven that fosters the development of a well-balanced child. The teachers and adminstration are compassionate people who truly care about each student. My son loves his school; he enjoys telling me about all of the great activities that he has done each day at school. I thank God that CWSCS exists.

We have two sons attending, the oldest of which started in Kindergarten and is now going into second grade. Academically the kids outpace their public school peers by well over a year's worth of curriculum. The smaller class sizes have allowed our oldest to receive the extra attention he needed in his math and reading. Instead of loathing and fearing those subjects, he has found them to be his favorites! As a Christian family, attending a local, seeker-friendly church in the neighborhood, I cannot say enough about how valuable the reinforcement of core elements of the evangelical faith have been for us. Our sunday school experiences are quite thin in comparison to chapel, the Bible memory and integration of faith and learning that is pervasive throughout each subject taught at CWSCS. Tuition is about one-third of other schools of the same caliber which makes it that much more attractive.

My daughter has attended CWSCS for the past 3 years. I love the fact that is a Christian School because it teaches the children scripture verses that they have to memorize and the parent involvement is okay I for one am involved heavily because I want to be. They really don't have that many extracurricular activities. They do have a basketball team for girls and boys, they just started music lessons and Cheerleading this year.

I went to Chicago WestSide Christian School and I learned so much from that school the teachers are great and they make sure you learn what you need to learn to go out into the world. This school doesn't have a lot of kids which gives the teachers more time to learn all the kids. Chicago WestSide teaches you about how you should live your life and because of that school I believe that i can do anything i put my mind to.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
