I am a student at Oakwood High School. Oakwood presents a safe and simple learning environment, which some people come to prefer. I however, am well aware of the lack of diversity, and the major lack of a decent fine arts program. Being in both the band and choir, I can strongly say, that the oppurtunity in the fine arts is strongly sub-par. However, I know some people prefer the simplicity of a small learning environment, (which I myself do not), and I will say that although it still has the same problems as every other high school, it has very few, and I do consider it a safe learning environment. Academically, its recent strengths have been its science, spanish, and mathematics programs. It's weakness is certainly its fine arts program. Hopefully this has explained my low rating for this school.

Oakwood is a smaller school system & the students don't get lost in the system. I went to Oakwood High & now I am proud that my niece goes there. She was diagnosed with dyscalculia (math dyslexia) & when she was going to our local schools, she got no help. Once the family moved to Oakwood school district, she got the help she needed & blossomed into a bright young lady. She is now in Algebra & getting an A.
