Forsyth Elementary is average. Too many worksheets, no gifted program, not much art. Some teachers are well liked and respected, others are not. (Word gets around and parents request specific teachers) Music programs in Fall and Spring are well planned and executed. Might be a little too much 'parental involvement' at this school, in my opinion. All things considered-one of the better schools in the Decatur area.

Forsyth Elementary school has been rebuilt and is absolutely fabulous! Amazing smartboard technology in every room, beautiful spacious areas and library and media centers, it's a wonderful place to send your children! There is also excellent communication between teachers and parents and lots of projects and programs that the students, teachers and parents get involved in together. It's the best school in the greater Decatur area!

Great teachers for the most part, but no art, no gifted program, too little hands on work, and way too much paper work. They works sheet them to death. Huge amounts of money seem to go to upper level sports. I don't think they have their academic priorities straight. The smart kids flounder and I feel are largely ignored. Their needs aren't met.

We pay huge taxes in Forsyth and our grade school has no art teacher, no library, and mobile classrooms with no public plan for expansion. Next year, the teachers lounge will be made into a classroom. The kids can fill in circles well for state tests, but creativity and encouraging academic curiosity, in my opinion is absent. THe teachers are fantastic, but are limited by upper district and building leadership and budgeting. All the money seems to have been sunk into the high school with no vision for the lower grades.
