I am a GRHS graduate and have recently graduated from a reputable state university. As a college graduate I am able to look back at what GRHS offered to their students and how their curriculum prepared students for college level work. I would advise any prospective student or parent to not send their child to this school. There were multiple times that students were told that they were not capable of college work and only three universities were promoted. Those being Danville Area Community College, Eastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois. If you want your child to be challenged intellectually in such as way that will prepare them for collegiate work, this is not the correct school for you. High school should be fun and looked back on fondly, but not at the expense of a quality education.
Every since we moved to Georgetown, my family and myself has had nothing but problems with this school. The attitude is if your not from this area, you are an outsider. That is the attitude of the students and the staff. The staff does not follow procedures or enforce the rules consistently. Problems that were brought to the staffs attention by my kids were ignored or swept under the rug, especially if the problem was being caused by a hometown student. I have moved a lot in the military and dealt with many schools and this has to be the worst school I've ever had to deal with.
This is probably one of the greatest schools I have ever been too... And I have been to ones in Chicago and other areas... And this is one that has really helped me to succeed and to get through the whole thing... They have made my senior year great... I have to say that everyone is friendly... And that the teachers actually seem to care for the students and not make them seem like they are inferior... They try to help you reach any goal you have that is within reason... So I have to say Thanks to everyone there... Adios for now...
This high school is excellent, and the faculty is all exceptionally nice and caring. The music programs are wonderful (the marching band is top notch!. GRHS really succeeds in bringing the community together. Go Buffaloes!
I go to this High school and it may not be the biggest or the wealthiest school but its great as itself. I love small town living. I know everyone at my school by name, try and say that in a school in New York or Chicago. The acedemic programs are great we have after school tutoring and the extended day program. We have Chorus and band and a lot of art classes. We only have one foreign language class, Spanish, and a Spanish club. In sports we have baseball, golf, basketball, chess, football, softball, and volleyball. We have FFA, which I am in, Drama club, and a colar guard. Parents can be involved in the PTA other than that Im not sure. Well all that is left to say is GO BUFFALOES!
