If you have a child with special needs by no means put them at Lincoln or at any other school in District 41. They have the lingo of inclusion down but very often and too quickly look to self contained classrooms. All of the other parents we have spoken to that have children with special needs are highly dissatisfied. We constantly asked to be included in the IEP process and were constantly excluded. We felt very bullied by the administration. This District is sadly stuck in the 1950s when it comes to special education. Every time we made a suggestion or tried to voice our opinion we received a smile and a nod and then were completely ignored. Our child had a horrible experience here and often came home saying that she wasn't smart and that she hated going to school. If your child doesn't fit into a box this is not the school for them. Until the administration changes it does not appear as though the special education program will change either. Our other child that does not have any special needs is often bored and because he does so well does not have much access to the teacher. And the test scores at Lincoln have dropped off quite a bit over the last ten years.

LOVE THIS SCHOOL! Incredible learning occurs within the walls of this beautiful single story California-style school building. If individual student growth was measured along with intangibles such as excitement about learning, being engaged in the learning process, exploring and developing interests, and being part of a diverse community, then Lincoln would rank 10+. Alas, test scores are the sole focus in our current hyper-standardized culture. Per NCLB, all students are tested--even if they are a newly arrived ESL student. Don't let the Great Schools score fool you. Lincoln is a top notch school with devoted teachers who truly love and support their students. They share their love of learning with their students while fostering crucial life skills like resilience, optimism, and work ethic. My daughter's teachers have supported her strengths while encouraging her growth in unexplored areas that have led to new interests and skills. Abraham Lincoln's environment is one that supports creativity and flexibility. I love that each student can learn and grow at her own pace. The teachers challenge and mentor their students and Lincoln's classrooms are comfortable communities.

This is a fabulous school. The teachers and staff really care about the kids and their educations. You cannot go wrong when considering purchasing a home in this school district. Great parents, great teachers and staff and incredible kids!

Lincoln is a beacon of hope in public education. Diversified student body, quality Faculty and Staff, strong PTA support, and if that isn't enough, education is job #1.
