I have been in this school for 3 years, this is my third year right now. The school is fine, the most things that really are outstanding are their disciplinary rules, students cannot attend any sort of field trips if they are ineligible which is a great system to know who is responsible enough and who isn't, and it also teaches kids a lesson so they can try to follow directions and be on their best behavior next time so they can attend the field trip. In my opinion and experience, i do not think this school is very safe. This year the staff found 3 bullets inside the garbage can. Kids also do start physical fights. Pushing in the hallways, bullying, judging of ethnic background etc. But the teachers are very great, they have awesome lessons which are not boring at all. The only thing that concerns me is safety.

Teaching civil rights in language usage class; Math is at 6th grade level in eighth grade. to many p.c. novelties and not enough basic education. However; There are some really top notch teachers at this school. Mr. Mauro, Mr. Meldrum, Mrs. Bower and Mrs. Wilkin are some stand outs. The princiapal and assistant principal are also exceptional.

This is the best Middle School ever! We have tons of school spirit, our sports teams are awesome, and we have the best teachers ever! If I were a parent living anywhere else, I would move to Glendale Heights just so my kids could go here!

I was a student here at Glenside for two years and moved my eighth grade year. I have to say right off the bat, this school was amazing. Every teacher I met strongly encouraged kids and truly cared about them. New kids here are very welcomed, I recall every new kid in my lunch was welcomed into any table and kindly introduced to everyone. The past few years brought a new concept that would only allow you to attend school activities if you had done your homework and if you did not you would be sent to the teacher who assigned the homework to work on it personally. The school dances were amazing. And of course, you could only attend if your school work was accordingly. Moving the last year made me realize what an awesome school Glenside is. I strongly encourage Glenside Middle School to anyone.

As a parent and prior student at this school I would recommend it to anyone. The majority of the teachers are very good and caring of the students. The new principle has a great repor with the students. There are ample oppertunities for students to get involved. I have had immediate return calls from teachers ( within 2 hours or less ) after leaving a message. My only down side is there really is not much oppertunity for parents to really be overly involved, there is some but not alot. The fact of ethnic diversity is a plus, there is no predjuice as there was when I grew up. These kids will all have to work with other ethnic backrounds when they get jobs and it is good they all see each other as equalls.
