We have great teachers that CARE about their students. We are in a financial crunch--programs eliminated, staff downsized, students' choices limited; however, we are still providing a quality education.
Because as with all other schools, this is a struggling underfunded school that has cut all after school sports activites. There is not even enough money to produce a yearbook, and yet the staff and principal continue to give 110% to ensure that safety of each student is paramount. There is respect in the hallways, and the principal and Vice-principal walk the children home every single day after school doewn a tough street in the neigbhorhood. Mr Bouchen, and Ballinger deserve our respect and praise. We need the money to provide after school curriculum and reinstate the technology class that was eliminated.
I have worked in several school districts during my career. I can honestly say that the teachers here are hard-working and want to help students succeed. This has been a challenge with a very tight budget and, sadly, little relief in sight thanks to the poor job performance of Illinois politicians. That being said, the staff is very creative and still manages to connect with the students in really positive ways.
The staff is very friendly to everyone...I have heard this said by subs, visitors and new students.
Spring Wood MS has so many parents and teachers that want what is best for the children. Recently our district has gone through a budget crisis. All afterschool activites have been canceled. Our children are missing out on their future and they are not the cause. Please help restore our activities.
Spring Wood is wonderfully diverse. I have had the privilege of being its principal for 15 years and love the caring atmosphere that exists here. Our yearly parent surveys indicate that parents feel their children are safe and that they enjoy coming to school. The staff works very hard to continually improve communication and the image of the school.
Spring Wood has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very enthusiastic and truly care about the welfare of their students.
