hi i go to georgetowne this school is awesome and there are a lot of activities
I went to GMS. I graduated in 2001, If I could go back I would what wasn't there to love about that school? The teachers were awesome and I was basketball mgr through 7th and 8th grade and that was awesome the school pride and spirit is the best all the teachers and stusents are close you can talk to them about anything you need to. I have a 3 year old little boy now and I want him to go to GMS as well when its time. But we will start w/ Marquette then Rogers , GMS just as I did and I hope his Experience is as great as mine was. I sometimes wonder how the teachers are doing now and I havent been back yet but I love the school and teachers and wish them all the best!
I am a former student of Georgetowne. I am currently attending Pekin High School. I would like to say the the person who had the audacity to say such crude remarks about this school apparently is only jealus because of their lack of education. I mean they could not even finsh thoughts. But this school is the best of all the choices around! We are fortunate enough to have such loving and caring teachers that do great things. If this school is so bad, then why is it that Mary Carver was named Teacher of the Year(nominated by the students, and chosen by the foundation!)? And they have Mrs. Henson. She teaches them Spanish if they choose to learn it! No other junior hogh around has that! And you can take the oustanding chorus teacher Mrs. Stokowski. She is the best around. Her life revolves around the kids.
Myself, and my 2 brothers attended and graduated from georgetowne, back in the 60's and 70's. We sent 5 chidren through georgetowne plus i now have 4 grand children attending. This school and district are one of the best in all aspects of academics and extra curricular activities. Parent involvement goes up and down as any school does, this depends on the parents. A lot of parents don't want to be involved with their children for one reason or another. But then there are those that do and they not only encourage their own child but those children that don't have parent involvement. There is more 1 on 1 with the students from the teachers because they care about the education of the students. I would recommend this school and this district to anyone moving here. They motivate the students to do their best and to try harder always.
What a great school! Excellent music department, all common extra curricular activities available, directives, and selectives such as: art, cooking, spanish, etc.. Professionally ran within the budget, parents encouraged to participate. No, no body is going to beg you to come foward. Proud to say that my 3 children attended and graduated from Georgetown.
This school is completely ran by the teaching staff with no accountability. Teacher often break confidentiallity and there is no recourse. Please note this is not by every teacher in the school, but this is not accountability if the teacher fails to follow through or does something inappropreate for the betterment of education. The entire district has a poor history of parent involvment and attempts to keep parents from being actively involved in the educational process. If I have the oppertunity to send my children else where with out the added cost, I would look for other educational oppertunities.
