All three of my children have attended ICS and love it. As a parent I am very happy with the fact that my children are expected to be respectful and polite in addition to being good students. The principal is terrific as are the teachers. They truly love the students and love their jobs!

I attended ICS from 1987 to 1996, and based upon later experience in high school I feel confident in the assertion that Immacule Conception provides the finest education in Morris. A dynamic principal may be ICS's greatest boon, and a particular strength of the school is in the upper grades where students are properly prepared for the rigors of higher education. The science program is weaker than at the public schools, but this is more than outweighed by the great advantages within the other academic fields, especially in the language arts. The lack of uniform is remarkable for a Catholic school, but there is no lack of discipline among the students. Involvement of the pastor varies depending upon the interests of the individual pastor -- it has been very little and quite a lot over the years. Nonetheless, the religious instruction is superior to that available in CCD, and the Catholic ethos permeates the school. Typical 'small school' problems certainly arise (cliques, gossip, etc.) but the faculty dealt as sensitively as possible with such incidents in my experience. I credit my subsequent successes (a PhD) to the preparation and love of learning that I acquired at ICS.

I think the math dept. needs to be improved. Over all the school is not catholic it might be private, though there are no uniforms or discipline due to the simple fact that the priest is never seen by the students. 7&8 grade religion need to be taught by the priest.

My children attened ICS for a few years but then I pulled them out. There are no uniforms at this school for a catholic school and they are not as strict. The principal is great but I have had issues with a few of the teachers. Do more research first before making final decision.

My children attend ICS. They love it there. The teachers in most part are wonderful people. The principal truly cares about each student. The parents are involved with the school a lot!! It really is a wonderful school.

I attended I.C.S for 9 years (kindergarten through eighth grade) and have never regretted my parents' decision in favor of private education. The teachers were wonderful, and students had all necessary individual attention. I have no doubt that I received an education far superior to what I would have received had I attended one of the public schools. Art and music classes are not only available, but required - allowing for a well-rounded education for all students. Extra-curricular activites are perhaps fewer than at a public school, but still they are plentiful enough. Any disadvantage in the realm of athletics (due mostly to smaller numbers of students in the school) is more than outweighed by the advantages of a smaller, more familiar and comfortable academic environment.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
