St. Thomas of Villanova is a great school. We love the smaller class sizes and the teacher-parent communication is phenomenal. The teachers make school fun, while keeping structure and a great curriculum. The technology is up to date and available for students of all ages. There are plenty of sports, groups, and activities for all different interests. Families are always encouraged to join the various activities and events throughout the year. The school as a whole is like a large family with parents and students being very welcoming and friendly. Older students talk with younger students by name, even just in passing. It's amazing how they all know each other. Weekly mass, prayers throughout the day, and religion in the curriculum help to build a strong Catholic core. We feel confident that our children will get a great education while forming long friendships and developing their talents and interests at St. Thomas.

St. Thomas is a wonderful school community where the students, teachers, faculty and parents are truly all work together to provide the best in academics, sportsmanship and most importantly Catholic values. While perhaps smaller in size certainly not in the offerings. Students can participate in several sports options, Band, theater productions, the Christmas pageant, Grandparents Day, Science Fair, junior high dances and various after school clubs. Older students have younger buddies they do activities and attend mass with each week. The after school care program is wonderful and run by teachers. It's my 8-year olds best part of his day because he gets to play with his friends. My children are learning to be self confident, respect others, to help others and other key values taught not just in textbooks. And with the assistance of many volunteers and friends of STV the students do not lack academically with iPads, chrome books and new educational materials being donated each year. The dedication from the staff and parents is evident thru all of the countless volunteer hours put in to make the many activities and events run. It also contributes to the many friendships and pride in our school community. My kids and my husband and I love their school and we feel blessed to be a part of it. I would strongly urge you to check out STV.

My previous review has been removed for some reason. Very poor experience with my children here. Bullying and social cliques are the norm here. Academics have gone down tremendously the last several years as the older, more experienced teachers have left and/or inexplicably been fired the day before the school year began in 2013. New practice of hiring St. Thomas parents for office and teacher positions (5 and counting) does not seem to lend itself to bringing in the best talent. I can go on and on, but please look elsewhere!

St. Thomas of Villanova. First, all around 5 star ratings from all but one commentator should raise a red flag. Who are giving these ratings? In the past few years many experienced teachers and a great secretary have retired or been fired without good explanation. What is truly disturbing is that many of these open positions have been filled by mothers of children already attending the school or parishioners with connections! They are clearly not looking for the best candidates. Also, be cautioned that many teachers/administrators are on social media and 'friends' with some of the parents. These friendships extend to non-school social interactions. IMHO, this is unprofessional. Discipline & rewards for students are arbitrary and capricious. Bullying is not dealt with effectively. Parents are required to volunteer for sporting events even if their child is not playing. However, when the volunteer list is finally put out to sign up, some 'in crowd' family names are already entered into preferred time/job slots - before anyone else has gotten a chance to look at it! Several other issues that demonstrate a lack of Christian values. Very sad and disappointing!

St. Thomas has been a great school for my children. We have been there several years now and find it to be a warm and inviting environment. The kids all know one another from preschoolers to 8th graders, by first name. Students are very involved with the parish next door. They do readings at mass on a regular basis. Moral and spiritual development is as important as academics we've noticed. Overall, it's been a very good experience.

I love Saint Thomas of Villanova school! They've helped instill such a strong moral guidance for my daughter who has attended the school for 3 years now. I love that every day when I drop my daughter off to school, Mr. LaRoche, the principle, is there helping the kids out of the car. It's such a community school, built around faith and family. I also love how involved the parents are. It's not only built friendships in the classroom, but I've built great friendships with fellow parents. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a school the provides small class sizes, strong Catholic faith, and a great community.

St. Thomas of Villanova is a fabulous school. It's a small school, with a large sense of community. All the kids know one another, from K-8, they intertwine the children and build trust amongst them. They learn Christian values and respect, along with top notch educational initiatives. Set on a huge piece of land, not on a busy road, it's a feeling of a safe place for my kids. Parent involvement is high, the school secretary is so great with the kids and parents, it's a pleasure to phone or come in to the school. And, show up anytime, they are welcoming. Friday morning mass is celebrated with the parish and planned by the school children. It is wonderful. The pastor of the church visits the classes regularly and really talks to the kids, at school and at church. It's an amazing school, I am proud to send my kids.

As a parent in today s society I know bringing up a child and educating them is not an easy task. Today there are so many instantaneous influences that as parents it can be very emotionally draining and time consuming balancing all the evens that today s fast paced world throws at you while at the same time trying to give your child the best chances of succeeding in life. In first grade my wife and I noticed this trend and realized that we wanted to give our daughter not just a great education but also a great moral compass to make the right decisions as she grew up. We explored different schools and when went to St. Thomas we realized we were home. St. Thomas of Villanova has a great education program but it also instills the values and morals that we believe will be a pillar of strength for her, especially in later years when make the correct decisions are going to be crucial to her success. This foundation will help her to make decisions based on solid beliefs and education. As parents we need that added reinforcement for our children as they are gone 8 hours a day away from us, and we felt confident that at St. Thomas of Villanova that our child was not only getting the educational nourishment we were looking for but strong Christian values. All this added to together gave us a greater piece of mind in our child s future.

The entire St. Thomas of Villanova Community is a wonderful place for families. The school is quite special in that it offers the finest in fatih based education, academics, and other spritual and service opportunites. I have all of my four children there and the legacy in my family has continued for generations. If you are in the area I encourage you to attend mass or stop by the school for more information.

I love the fact that this school is small so that everyone knows each other - from the pre-school students to the 8th grade students. The class sizes are also small which ensures each student more individualized attention from their teacher(s). Because of that attention, my daughter has been able to move up a grade level on several classes such as reading and math. The faculty is very attentive not only to the students' needs but also to the needs of the parents as well. There is a wealth of extracurricular activities available at the school so that parents know that their children can get more than an academic education. The children can also develop their social needs with other students with other activities. My daughter has been thriving at St. Thomas for 3 years now and my husband and I couldn't be happier.

We moved our two daughters from the local public school to St. Thomas a few years ago after my wife and I thought long and hard about their future Jr. High School years. We wanted to give our daughters the best learning opportunities while protecting them from future influences that they could be exposed to in a large public Jr. High School setting. We had concerns about making this switch, since our daughters had already attended our local public school for a couple of years. However, a richer, stronger learning and character building environment at St. Thomas has made all the difference for them and us. We made the right choice!

We have been at the school for 14 years and continue to be happy. The classes are small so all the teachers know the children by name. All of the students in the school know each other and look out for each other. The teachers truly care about the children's education and well being.

St. Thomas is a great school community for the whole family. It is a small school where you can get to know everyone and the families are very involved not just in the school but in the Palatine community. I love that the teachers practice their faith and are great role models for the children. It's great to chaperone a field trip where we begin with a prayer for safety for everyone that day.

St. Thomas is an excellent school. Class sizes are smaller than in the public school and higher grades buddy with the lower grades for some projects, so there is a sense of 'family' and almost every child in the school knows each other's names. Teachers, after school program and parent involvement are all top notch.top.are top notch

It is an honor to be able to send our daughters to St. Thomas of Villanova. You can't put a price on the piece of mind having your children in a safe and loving environment. The small class sizes give the students more attention and more focus on their individual needs.

St Thomas is an amazing school for parents wishing to bring their children up with a christian influence. The teachers know every students name, even if they are in a different grade, creating a family-like environment. Many sports are offered, along with programs such as band, art, and a newspaper open to junior-high. When present or even former students accomplish academic, athletic, or musical tasks, it is publicized in the school newsletter. St. Thomas is one of the best private schools in the area, and children will love it. I know mine did!
