This school is best school any of my children have ever been in. The staff there from the office staff to the principal know the children by their first names and all are concerned about the best interest of your child. The teachers are amazing, Ms. McCabe and Ms. O'Donnell will be forever in my mind. Mr. Malloy the principal is a wonderful leader for the children. Consider youself lucky if your children are in this district.
Troy Shorewood is a wonderful school. We were in the district for 2 years and had to move We didn't realize just how great the school was until we entered a new district The kindergarten and first grade teachers are great, they really made learning fun!!
Troy Shorewood school has far exceeded our expectations. The first grade team is excellent! The principal is wonderful, and the staff is talented and friendly. Each day my child is taught with creative and effective teaching strategies! He is learning so much, and having fun! what a blessing. Mrs. Moorhouse is a wonderful and innovative teacher! she is always interacting with the students and keeping them interested! Thanks Mrs. Moorhouse.
I do think they depend way too much on workrsheets, and less on researching new ideas on how to get the children interested and engaged. I have four children and each one has had at least one teacher to suggest they are ADHD and they are all straight A students. The school is ok, but the teachers seem to think of it as a job, and nothing more. A few teachers... Pevitts, Close, Mareck are exceptional.
Overall, a decent school. Many teachers seem to have no idea what current best practices are when teaching young minds...can you say 'Put the worksheets away!'? I do believe they care about kids, but they need to move into the 21st century on pedagogical choices. Engaged learning is rare in this building. Pleasant administrator, but could provide more leadership on improving classroom instruction.
