Canton Middle School

This is my second review of this school my first one was in 2009. Since the new principal Mr. Smith has taken over things have changed for the better. He has taken control of the school. The teachers that my son had were all wonderful teachers. Give this school and the staff a chance.

If I had children preparing to attend Canton Middle School this fall, I would rather give my house away rather than send them to a place where teachers bully children and have a focus on beating kids down rather than building them up. Take your children and run to the nearest attendance district besides U46. Ask the Superintendent why he backed off from his pledge to have all schools meeting or exceeding expectations.

This school is the WORST middle school you can possibly have your child attend. I believe that a great school is marked by its leadership and this school has none! The principal in this school is unprofessional, rude and appears to lack the educational experiences that one would expect a leader to have. Her lack of interest in the students must have a trickle down effect as her staff are no better than she. If this school would put as much emphasis on education as they do on discipline, this school would be top notch. Unfortunately this is not the case. RUN!!!

This is my son first year here,I hate this school the test scores are low and the only thing they are focused on is the behavior.I think they should be focused on both academics and behavior,I will not let my son attend here again, they also like harassing the children,the office staff is rude and mean.So I can only imagine what those poor kids are going through,I would not recommend this school to anybody's child to attend I hate mine have to go.
