The teachers at Fairview are incredible. Teachers should always have a "passion" for teaching and that passion is extremely visable with the teaching staff at Fairview Elementary. With such a transient student population and the challenges these kids face, teachers at Fairview are much more than just teachers. The kids learn and know that these people care, not only about their grades but about them personally. Sometimes that makes all the difference in the world!

Parents and kids care enough to get involved in order to make their school the best it can be.

Fairview has always been a school with very committed teachers, now in a new building they will be able to carry out may of the curriculum ideas that space had previously limited. It is a building that will hopefully inspire children and families.

During a tough period of transition Fairview was there to support me and my daughter, and I really appreciated the support.

Because of the great teaching staff and their vice principal. They also have two great Head Start classes with wonderful teachers.

I love Fairview School because Fairview School has a great Head Start program located in their Elem. School and that will help prepare those younger children for their Elem. School success. The Head Start teachers/aides are just great with the kids. Thank you to Stacey, Jean Marie, Justine, and Shakey for doing a FABULOUS job and thank you to Fairview Elem. School for seeing how important Head Start is!

I work in the local community and have had the pleasure of helping the staff and children at Fairview over the past few months. The teachers, adminstration, and support staff are truly dedicated to educating and caring for the children. Unfortunately, many of these students are in extremely disdavantaged circumstances. I have seen the patience, understanding, and desire to really help these children by everyone at the school. This school deserves to win!

This school needs a helping hand to support the wonderful things they do there!

Posted October 12, 2010

This school serves a majority of under privileged children and is doing an excellent job. It needs and deserves more funding to help even more children!

Posted October 9, 2010

Many under privileged children attend Fairview school. The students at Fairview Elementary School need a hand up to escape a life of poverty

Fairview has adopted an innovative approach to our children's education. They are creating well rounded children who at the end of their education will know more then just the required proficiency tests.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
