My husband went to NV all his life and I have 4 kids that have or are going now to the school so I guess I could say they have their strong pts and their weakness too. Lately I would have to say more weakness as far as teaching goes. We had the honor to move away for a few years and my younger kids experienced a larger certified top 10 school and loved it and would love to go back because of the schools. NV has some teachers that are just so wonderful and caring and really love the kids and want them to expand their minds and do push them. the problem is they are few and getting fewer as the years go. I feel that the school does not focus on homework and independant study enough even at the HS level It was very awakening for my college student to go to college and have to learn to study on her own and do her work on her own.they need to teach oulines and esseys and how to study I will say that if you put forth the effor to be very involved with your childs grades and show concern they will then show it back and send extra practice stuff home but if you dont start it they dont even mess with helping any child who is struggling. they pass kids on that should not be passed on

I agree with the statements that they put a great deal of attention on sports. There are alot of wonderful teachers there as far as personality goes. Involvement is very low. In fact, my children have been in this school for this entire year and so far there has not been one parent/teacher conference. We recieve emails on detentions, but no further involvement has been made. The teachers do not send home letters, emails or calls if they have any concerns, only if there is a discipline issue. There is a lack of concern for the childs well being as well as education. They offer no programs to help the poorer of the class as other schools do, they are always asking for money for this or that with no disregard to the students that may not beable to afford it and if they can't, then they are unable to participate. I could go on and on, but I like this school for astetic reasons and for the "niceties" however as an overall, this school is not at all what I had hoped it would be.

There are a lot of great and caring teachers at NVE. I feel most of the staff welcomes parent participation, and puts a lot of time and thought into lessons. NV is a great place for kids to feel safe and like they matter. There are a lot of activities for children to be involved in, for such a small school. It is nice to send my kids to school and not worry about them all day long. I am confident that my kids are being taught what they need to be successful, and most of the teachers are good role-models.

I have to agree with the first statement. Sports is the overriding study. It most definately is a safe school. Over all I would say that its fair, its good, but I'd like to see more academic standards of excellence and awarding.

I attended North Vermillion my whole life and my children did attend. I'm glad we moved! This school places more emphasis on sports than academics. Places more value on who your parents are and how much money you have over the child's own behavior and academic success. The principal is one who says she is there, but does not actually welcome parents 'butting in'. There are teachers who should not be there, and some of the better teachers agree, but they are not terminated because of who they are. There are a few really good teachers here, but they have no success fighting the establishment. I would not return my children here.

I think this is a excellent school. All of the staff are kind , friendly and go on and above their duty to help kids and parents in any way possible. I love this school.
