I currently have my 3rd child at Concord Jr. High. I am very impressed with the staff there. They are very caring and great listeners. The teachers are great, especially the teachers for the children with disabilites. They make children with disabilities feel included by taking there own time after school to include these children in after school functions such as games and dances.

This school is great. The teachers care about the kids and there is plenty of opportunity to do extra stuff. I am a college art student now and some of the best instruction I recieved was at CJHS. If you have a problem you can count on help from the principal and the counselor. The teachers are also nice.

Concord Junior High puts kids first. Their staff is second to none and the system works to create that essential parent-student-teacher relationship. My children thrived at CJHS and are now successful college students. Bravo CJHS! You are appreciated.

I don't have a child in this school, but I applaud your assistant principal for taping that young kids pants up. If we had more school administrators like this at every school, things might be just a little bit better.

I couldn't be happier with CJH. I moved away from South Bend because of the horrible school system there, and believe that it was the best move that I could have made for my kids. My daughter was on the honor roll for the first time ever this year, and we're very proud of her. The teachers are very tuned into the importance of communicating with parents, and I'm thrilled about the school. The EdLine feature that they have is incredible. I'm able to monitor my daughter's grades at a minimum of 2x per month, it has helped both me and my daughter know where her energies need to be focused. I attribute that and the great teachers and staff and CJH for her success in school this year

I think Concord Junior High is a good school for the average child. However, it has been my experience that a child with a disability such as ADHD does not get the appropriate attention and help that they require to be successful in school. My son has struggled greatly for the past 2 years, despite all my efforts in communication with his counselor, teachers, and principal. I clearly feel that they could have and should have done more to help him succeed.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
