Luers is a pretty nice school to attend IF you can tolerate uniforms, and some strict rules. Mrs. Keefer is the best principal I have ever had, and the assistant principal is very involed with things as well. The tuition is steep(5000.00+) and some students can get away with things easily and the administration sometimes will not help you with it. They give friday and saturday schools frequently and although i have never got one they can be annoying when you get one for just being tardy. My freshmen year was OK at best.
Bishop Luers has provided me with a great education. I got into my first choice college and I have Luers to thank for that. The teachers are excellent and I have learned to much from them. Luers offers so many extra curricular activities from Sports to the Arts to Academic Super Bowl. I have had a fantastic time during my time at Luers and I will never forget everything Luers has done for me.
I believe that Bishop Luers offers the most comprehensive highschool program in the area. When considering academic excellence, along with arts, athletics, community, diversity, and those intangibles that the Luers community simply refer to as "Luers Spirit," we believe that Bishop Luers has the best program in the Fort Wayne area for educating the WHOLE person. We looked carefully at a number of local schools, both "private" and public and gave careful consideration to academics as well as those other factors that are critical to assisting children in becoming true "renaissance" individuals. Bishop Luers offers a complete selection of Honors, AP, and Dual Credit courses to provide academic challenges for students and have an indisputable tradition of excellence in the arts and in athletics as well. Luers provides the same welcome to all students and has an environment which creates a true "home" for students with diverse backgrounds and interests. We looked very hard for a school we felt we could trust our children to and we are thrilled that we could find a school like Bishop Luers. Our son is a freshman this year and could not be happier. He feels right at home.
My oldest child is a freshman at Luers this year making him the first of the third generation of Knights in our family! Bishop Luers seems to always grow and change and improve the curriculum without ever compromising the excellent tradition and values of previous generations! GREAT school, GREAT tradition, GREAT LUERS SPIRIT!!
I sent my child to luers and they had the worst curriculum she needed biology her first year there and they would not allow her to takw it. the teachers were rude and so was the kids. Not to mention the principles attitude when my daughter spoke to her.
Great school. Luers Spirit is renowned in Fort Wayne. A feeling of family permeates this school. Strong values and tradition are integral part of the school. Academics, sports, performing arts - all are excellent
There is no better place in Fort Wayne for educating the entire person - mind, spirit and body. My daughter absolutely blossomed during her four years at Luers - we expect the same for our son not attending. The staff and adminstration are top-knotch. Extra-curricular activities abound and the sports program is phenomenal. There is a true feeling of family at this small Catholic high school!
Bishop Luers is the best place for my student. He has received an excellent education in the classroom and has been challenged in the many other activities he participates in at Luers from football, theatre and lacrosse. Luers educates the whole person!
I was extremely excited to enroll my child in this school for the educational opportunities, stablity and Catholic school setting. However, the disappointment that followed was devistating. The lack of integrity and leadership by the administration and coaches was shameful. Bad behavior by star players on altheltic teams was tolerated and unpunished. 'Teamwork' was essentially nonexistant, replaced instead by the attitude of winning being everything. Education definitely takes a backseat to athletics. I can't express enough how disappointed we were in the lack of response from the principal and coaches and the tolerance of bad behavior on team outings, as well as bad behavior and poor leadership from coaches.
It's one of those things while being a teenager you never like where you are. You never think, is this best for me in the long run. Bishop Luers High School was for me was a great place to be, where everyone cared and was extreemly helpful. I learned more than I will ever know growing up in that enviornment. When it comes to Fort Wayne HS's this is the place to be!
