Four years ago under Get Nichols this review would have been rated excellent. We have lost the spirit of Brentwood. Mrs. Chad is not a people person, who doesn't have the social skills to be a principal. It has always been the greatest elementary school in the city, but now despite the caring staff and teachers it isn't. Mrs. Chad's communication skills or leadership is not inviting to parents or staff.
I love this school- I love that my son has wonderful teachers. However, the new principal doesn't cut it AT ALL. She isn't warm or inviting like the past leaders- I have not been impressed by her communication skills or leadership. If you want a principal who is there for the students, she isn't the one. The teachers make up for what she lacks.
I am so happy that we sent our son to Brentwood. His teacher, Mrs. Forbes, was fantastic! His love for reading and writing is amazing. He also has such a wonderful grasp on Math concepts! Great job BRENTWOOD!
I love the way this school works. they let my child excel in their own pace. The special education department is wonderful. The 2008-2009 school year will be my daughters 3 year at this school.
Brentwood continues to an amazing school mainly because of the nurturing and awesome teachers. A new principal kept a low profile this year but if she continues in the vein of the old principal this should continue to be a great school. I would like to have seen more extra curricular activities after school and more field trips and more community involvement. Also, more focus on reading, writing , and math.
My son attended this school from grades 1-5, 2001-2005 approximately and it's a very good school! It used to have a Latin grammar focus which got lost in state budget cuts; however, the teachers and administration try to incorporate that focus wherever they can. Teachers ably meet the challenge of a diverse enrollment. Parent involvement/fundraising helped install a brand new, state of the art playground this spring.
Caring, nurturing faculty and staff; excellent character education & practice; attention to diversity (inclusive celebrations); excellent Special Ed. programs, too!
I wish it could be EVERY childs privelage to go to this school! It is excellent in every way that it matters. Caring staff and teachers. A principal that listens to cares and concerns and actually finds you answers to your questions. A rewarding experience for student and parent.
Brentwood is the best school in Fort Wayne! I have never seen such a caring, dedicated staff and would not send my children anywhere else!
This school is wonderful, it's the closest you can get to a private school in the public system. The uniforms are a definite plus and the staff and teachers are the best around!
