This school is full of potheads and I believe going far down hill after my brother in law graduated. The students are becoming meaner and the teachers play alot of favorites. The principals take interest in picking out people and not disaplining everyone the same.
the reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because many of the teachers play favorites and even some of the principals and this is coming from a student. and I've only met one teacher that genuinely cares about the students. the classes on the other hand are vast such as a jewelry class where you actually make jewelry out of metals. it was my favorite class. and they also have Career Center which is an off campus class. overall it's an average school and it could be better.
Northridge is by far the best school in Northern Indiana, IMHO. My children have attended both Northridge HS in Middlebury and Carroll HS in Ft. Wayne. Both are wonderful, but the parent involvement and the dedication of the teaching staff at Northridge far surpass anything I've ever experienced. The student body is also exceptional, as a mother with two sons I couldn't ask for a better school. Everyone from office support staff to the student body deserve to be applauded for making Northridge the outstanding school that it is. Bravo.
Northridge is a great school, it is a the main reason I live here. The teachers are wonderful and the school pride is great. The students seem to be relaxed and easy going in a good way.I feel that my children are safe here.
We moved here from a much larger out of state school and are very disappointed with the lack of classes to pick from. If you want something other than basic classes you're pretty much out of luck. How about some writing classes, drama classes, TV classes, etc. Not everyone cares about sports, sports, sports. I do like the 4 block schedule. The teachers I've met seem to be very dedicated, but where is the principal? I've been to several events at school but he seems to be non-existant. He needs to be seen more.
I graduated from NHS in 1986 and currently have a 'daughter' (Exchange student) attending Northridge. Alot has changed in nearly 20 years, however some of the most important issues have not. Parental involvement has always been high at NHS and I attribute much of the success of many of the students on this factor. As a small community, we have the best of both worlds; a small school with big leadership. Thank you for not compromising on your standards, our kids will accept the challenge you set out for them!
I have had one child graduate from Northridge and one is presently attending. Yes, there are some 'cliques', but I would rather have relatively harmless cliques than gangs. I wish that the vote to go forward with the building project would have had a favorable outcome. Our kids deserve a bigger, better equipped environment in which to get an education and prepare them for college and/or the work place.
Northridge High School is actually a great school. The only bad thing that I can think about it is that a lot of the teachers plays favorites with the families that have the most money, and it is a preppy school. It isn't as bad as a lot of schools that are around here. At least here I have felt really safe and know that there isn't going to be anyone walking in with a gun or something.
