I love this school for the overall welcoming feeling you get when you enter. All the teachers are willing to do what it takes to better your child.
Menominee has a beautiful, country location. It is only two years old and the new building plan works well for students and staff as well. The staff is terrific, the principle, Mr. Michael Dunn is friendly, caring with the kids, and has a way of getting discipline accross without being seen as authoritarian. Secretarial staff is so congenial and willing to do everything asked of them; they are a wonder. The all-school programs are well organized and we always enjoy family nights. The only problem for Menominee is the unsafe walk to school along Nutmeg road. Good luck Menominee, you are the best!
I have a child that is ADHD - this leads to some unique teaching problems at times. I believe that there are teachers at Menominee that recognize this and are able to teach to him rather than at him. My son has not always had the 'best' of teachers for a child with this problem but has been able to maintain a 'B' average. Some teachers have been able to keep him on track with little effort and have been very open with communication home so that I am able to help keep his medication levels where they need to be to best teach him - other teachers have 'struggled' with him more because they did not understand the whole ADHD picture and how very important it is to notify the parent immediately if the student appears to have more than normal difficultly concentrating in class. Overall I believe that the leaders (principal, asst. principal and most of the teachers) do the best that they can everyday to ensure that our children have the greatest jumpstart on learning that they can be given.
