I'm not sure what the circumstances were behind the bitter criticism of the parent's post, but I have found Seymour High School to provide the best experience for all my children. I am not "a particular family with special privileges" - my children worked hard, studied, and strive to do their best. Every one of them has graduated from SHS with either partial or full-rides to some of the best universities in the country. We attribute Seymour High School and their progressive classes, AP/dual-credit courses, and the high standards to which our children grew and learned from. Kudos Seymour High School! Thanks for all you did for our children to get them to where they are today!

This school has a school board which is by choice, completely disconnected from the parents and guidance staff who treat students very differently depending on who their family is and what the politics are. Students who are bright are given unrealistic course loads which equals a recipe for failure. This school is trying to bring down the grades of the hard-working students . There is a very liberal agenda here. Brilliant students are never encouraged to apply to Ivy League schools. There is intense pressure to attend Ivy Tech, the community college for people who need a high school redo. I regret putting my oldest child in this school and it took about four years to get what is going on because the school board has almost zero interaction with parents. They address their notices to students, staff and the public. Not parents mind you. This school board is not interested in giving the tax-paying parents any decision-making input. These guidance counselors and school board members forget who pays their salaries-the hard-working parents of Jackson County. My second child will NOT be enrolled in this progressive, liberal "let's all be the same" school. Run away don't walk.
