Our motto is 'Creating leaders in a Christ-centered environment'.
I know SCA is a wonderful school full of caring compassionate teachers and staff members. SCA has been a part of my life for 12 years. I love teaching and am glad to be a part. I recommend you try SCA and make it the place for your child's education.
I am a teacher at SCA and proud to be one. My job is more of a love and a passion-than it is a job. I love my students. Every single student I have taught over the past 7 years has a special place in my heart. Not only do I love my students, but I love to teach. I strive very hard to make sure my students understand what is being taught to them. I love to see that look of I got it! I understand now! I work very hard at finding and using exciting teaching methods. I spend much of my personal time looking for ways to help students who are struggling. I never give up. I am truly blessed to be part of the staff at SCA. I feel we (the staff) set very high personal goals and work diligently to achieve them. I work continuously to better my education. I am proud to be a Panther. I am proud that we are getting accredited with the state of Indiana. I am proud of that fact that 95% of our students go to college. I am proud of our hard working staff, students, and parents. So much to be proud of.
I am the music teacher at SCA. I have a B.A. in Music, and have served as a Music Minister for 12 years, and I also have my own piano studio where I have taught over 200 students in the past 12 years as well. It is an honor and a privilege to teach in a Christian school, and I am thankful for the sacrifice so many people make in order to have this quality Christian education for their children. I am a graduate of the public school system in the metro Washington D.C. area. While I did receive a quality education, I would have given everything I could have at that time to be able to attend a private Christian school rather than be another number in the public school system. Who cares if a teacher has as many degrees as a thermometer, if they do not even care about the child? Public school teachers in general are much more concerned about their pay checks and their school's I-STEP scores than they are about truly loving the children in their charge. This is not the case at SCA. We as teachers LOVE these kids, and we pour love and compassion into them....and I can speak for myself in saying that my music students some of the performers I have ever seen.
I love SCA! The academic program is second to none. I love the fact that all students are encouraged to take the SAT. I'm thankful for the qualified and caring teachers. I'm so glad that my child has the opportunity to be in a truly Christ-centered environment. Thank you teachers and staff for making SCA possible for our family!
I am currently a high school student at SCA, and I have had the wonderful opportunity of going to SCA from Kindergarten until now. I cannot express how thankful I am for such a wonderful school. This school has pushed me above and beyond what I ever though I could be. The teachers care about the students, and work tirelessly to make sure that they reach their dreams and aspirations. The one on one time with the teachers is something that I am personally so grateful for. When there is a problem or concern, the teachers never neglect the issue. They always try to find a remedy to any situation that any student may have. The Christian atmosphere makes learning and interacting easy and stress-free. You never have to worry about crude or inappropriate language, or anything of the matter. Kids are never ridiculed for race, color, or what they believe. The teachers stick strictly to what the Bible says and nothing else. This is truly a CHRISTIAN school, and I have personally been blessed by Seymour Christian Academy.
All three of my children have been blessed to be able to go to Seymour Christian Academy, and will soon all be graduates of this school. I would have it no other way. My children have had the best education in a Christ-centered environment. Due to my job, I have been surrounded by the public world of education. This has encouraged me all the more to make sure that my children never have to go to a public school at any time of their life. I have worked multiple jobs just to make certain that my kids never have to face the sin that goes on in today's schools. I am thankful for the Christian atmosphere that my kids have been blessed to learn in. Thank you, Seymour Christian Academy!!!
I am a graduate of Seymour Christian Academy. Since graduating I completed my Associates Degree, an currently in a 4 year university pursuing my Bachelors Degree. Not one time have I encountered resistance or any opposition at all with my diploma from SCA. As a matter of fact, I was more prepared for college after graduation than most of my classmates. The teachers at SCA are highly qualified, caring, and truly interested in their students' success. There is absolutely no question in question in my mind as to where my children will attend school. The teacher/student ratio, curriculum, and Christ centered environment make this school the obvious choice for private schooling in the Seymour area!
Seymour Christian Academy is a wonderful school! I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to send my children into a wholesome, Christian enviroment with high quality academics! I am pleased that the same values my husband and I are instilling in our children are being reinforced during school hours. The teachers care not only about my child's academics, but for their spiritual well being. Thank you S.C.A. for being a light in our community!
I'm thrilled my grand children attend SCA. Not only is it a wonderfully safe environment, it is academically equipping them to advance. The question considered is not can they read entering the fourth gade, rather, can they read in the 4 year old preschool class.
Seymour Christian Academy is one of the best school on the planet. They make sure each student reaches his best academically!!! They care not only for our future, but for our eternity.I'm so thankful I'm apart of this awesome school!
I could never express my appreciation to Seymour Christian Academy enough for giving my sons the education and foundation they needed to build successful lives, families, and ministries. They both graduated from SCA and then from Indiana Bible College.
I am a recent graduate of SCA. I received more than enough scholarships to pay for my first year of college. I scored a 1890 on my SAT. Before I came to SCA, I was behind two grades and struggling academically. Because of the smaller class sizes, my teachers were able to work with me until I was excelling in my classes. I graduated as valedictorian with a 4.3 GPA and academic honors. The staff at SCA saw that I had potential if someone would take the time to work with me. They developed my talents and strengthened my weaknesses. I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to attend! Because of my love for Christian education, I am now a staff member. I have been given the honor to see the inner workings of this school and I would like to debunk a few myths. First, although SCA is an Apostolic school, the Apostolic doctrine is not crammed down your throat. Second, a diploma from SCA is just as valid as a diploma from any of our public counterparts and is not a GED equivalent. Third, our academics are second to none. Because SCA strives for excellence our graduates are prepared for college and most will receive scholarships. I could go on all day about how great this school is!
I did not attend Seymour Christian Academy, but I have been associated with the school for over 12 years. My wife attended SCA while we were dating. My wife and sister graduated from SCA and are both currently enrolled in college. SCA prepared them for all aspects of life. SCA is a wonderful school with a stellar track record. The teachers are top notch and I know all of them personally. The teacher/student ratio is well above average. The administration are friendly and professional. There are classes, such as video production, which are not offered in any other school in the area. I can't say enough good things about SCA! There is no other option for my son's education.
I am a graduate of SCA. While I do not agree with their religious views at all, I will say to the parent that claims kids who go to this school can not go to 4 year public colleges, you are wrong. I graduated with honors, I got a 1500 on the SAT. I am currently a junior at Indiana University Purdue University Columbus working toward my business management degree. Also I received direct entree into the division of business because of classes I took my senior year at SCA.
I only give this school 1 star because it will not allow me to leave zero stars. Only 1 licensed teacher on staff, cliques & favoritism obvious among the students/staff, and worst of all... the school is an off-chute of the Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle (a United Pentecostal Church) and that particular view of Christianity is taught as absolute TRUTH that is NOT to be questioned. If questions and/or opposing thoughts are posed during class/chapel time by students not of the same Christian denomination, the staff has been known to get upset, raise their voice, throw Bibles around (literally) and the like. My child was frightened by these outbursts. They would not tolerate differences in religious ideology. During chapel preaching, students are highly encouraged (and feel pressure) to go to the altar to "seek the Holy Ghost" and "speak in tongues" and are told they are not saved unless they do so, regardless of what untruths their parents teach them at home. We found this staff to be confrontational and difficult to deal with when such problems arose. if you are Pentecostal, the school will probably fit your needs nicely. If you are not, I would suggest a different school.
As a christian parent, I feel that the school has struck a great balance between academic and spiritual growth. No school is going to be perfect, but the goal at this school is clear, reflect Christ. As a Christian parent, if I had to choose between my child going to a state school, with more certifications and getting into a college, earning a degree but having no moral, or Christian foundation, than the choice is clear. I believe that education starts at home, and I made sure that my child got what they needed at home, and they were excellent students. Not only did my child graduate SCA, but also went on to become a great person today. i credit alot of that to the education provided at SCA, and look forward to one day my grand children attending this great institution.
Christian curriculum, but not always a Christian atmosphere in terms of how students treat one another. Our kids found the emotional stress of cliques & "girl bullying" to be quite problematic and the teachers/administrators failed to deal with this problem as it isn't as obvious as "boy bullying" which tends to be more physical and easier to recognize. Even though this emotional bullying & out-casting was brought to their attention, little was done & it continued for several years. Also, we found the teachers rather unprofessional in their lack of direct parent communication when they mostly refused to answer any email questions about what was happening in class & referred us to administrators which didn't know the answers. Administrators acknowledged to us they only had 1 state-certified teacher on staff at SCA. Lastly, we hate the constant fund-raising we were forced to do.
As parents, we feel SCA offers a loving Christian atmosphere, definitely. However the teacher qualifications & quality, the lack of concern for the possibility of a 'safety risk', and the unprofessional way some situations are handled have and continue to concern us. We are considering other schooling options. We think their hearts are in the right place, but that doesn't necessarily make them superior educators, just nice Christian folks.
