I attended Ben Franklin for both 6th and 7th grade, and then moved to the west coast before 8th grade. What I have found out is how great the education in Valparaiso really was. BF offers many honors classes that allow students to learn at a faster pace, which cannot be found where I live. The sporting programs are way better than any I've seen, and the "specials" or Allied Arts classes are also wonderful. They allow students to take many interesting courses, not having to choose just one. Of course, like in any school there will be good teachers and bad teachers, social divides and outcasts, but in the end, if you are really going to school for the right purpose (to learn, that is), Benjamin Franklin exceeds all other schools I've seen. It is a wonderful learning environment, and most students there care about their grades and behave. In all honesty, BF is fantastic school and I really enjoyed my time there.

I'm in the eighth grade and recently moved far from B.F. I had no idea how lucky I was at B.F. B.F. is challenging and fun all at once. I wish I was still there, because This school ROCKS!:)

BF is a great school to go to. BF makes sure that every student gets involved. The programs that they have set up are excellent. The education of students is the best I've ever seen. We spend thousands of dollars in extracurricular activities and we are the top school overall; in my opinion that is. I go to this school, so I know what happens there. We have terrific programs for students and there is no way a student could hate BF. My grade has won almost every academic contest there has been in the past year(s). Our sports have always won either undefeated or just are really good. The staff helps you so much if you miss school, I know this because I missed almost 1/4 of the school year. Overall, BF is a school that you would want your kids to go to for their 3-years of Middle School.

Ben Franklin is a great school if you are the type of parents that does not like to get involved. Some of the teachers there are wonderful. Others should have left years ago. Good Luck!

My 7th grade son enjoys his classes and teachers at BF. The core of the academic programming is very strong. My son is challenged and enriched with the opportunities and education provided to him. He is especially delighted with his foreign language class and teacher, Heir Holt. He enjoys band and has ventured on to a new and more challenging instrument. The PE program provides opportunities. Unfortunately I do not feel that he has benefited from the program due to his teacher's lackadaisical style of 'teaching.' We fortunately have not seen any sign of drugs or alcohol in relationship to our son. We speak with our son daily and keep the lines of communication open in order to stay on top of problems that arise. Overall we are pleased with this school.

I'm a BF student in the 8th grade and have been here for 2 years. The education is excellent, and the majourity of the teachers are creative and inspriring while a few should have retired by now. The athletics are excellent, along with many extracurriculars. Drug problems are evident in every school, and BF takes a stand against them along with bullying. Our two programs, GREAT and CASS, have educated students about those issues. The students have a say in their school through student council and I know many of my peers will go on to accomplish great things. BF is certainly an exceptional school.

I went to this school for 6th through 8th grade. The teachers were great and supportive as well as all of the administrative staff. It is common knowledge that kids today are experimenting with drugs and alcohol at an earlier age than they were 10 years ago. I think it is to be expected that there will always be those kids that are on the wrong path. I do believe that I recieved a great education during middle school.

all three of my children were in classes of 25 to 33 from 1993 until two years ago. All of my children had trouble in this school. My daughter was the ideal bachalaureat student, my oldest son had and LD and later discovered phyc disorder which was treatable but ignored for which the school had to pay for his education outside of the school, and my youngest son who is now home schooled wit his older brother. Drugs are rampant and sold out of lockers. Some children including many of the LD students are singled out and harrased by the faculty. Some are passed with failing grades. They are notorious in the state for doing things 'their way'. If you have had a good experience it was the luck of the draw. Many children being thrown away here,
