bgms is a great school!!! the principle is amazing very up beat and ready to help out any one who needs. bgms has its share of problems but has far less then any near by school. the sports teams are fantastic and so is the music program. the band program is by far the best middle school program in the county. overall this school is amazing and if i had to rate it on a scale of one to ten it would be a nine because nobody is perfect!!

BGMS is the best middle school around. Even with larger class sizes, its dedicated staff provide a strong and caring educational community. It is a school that connects with all students and truly functions as a powerful and dynamic community of learners - students, staff, support staff and administration. I have extensive experience in public school (student, teacher, parent), private school, and homeschooling - throughout the tri-state area (IL, IN, WI). Though I have left IN, I still believe BGMS is the best of the best. GO TOMAHAWKS!!!!

Battle Ground Middle School is an awesome, dynamic, caring, individualistic, listening school. I know this is a lot of adjectives, but it is hard to describe a wonderful school that really cares for each child. They really listen and the atmosphere there is contagious. If you are looking for an academic school it is this also. My child is in the advance 8th grade Math and English and is challenged. I'm also a teacher who has not taught in 20 yrs., but know what to look for what makes a school great. The principle is so upbeat and loves the kids. This makes the atmosphere positive for them, the staff and the custodians.

Considerate and positive administration, staff, and teachers. Always smiling and helpful. Interests of the students are supreme. Clean building and grounds well maintained. Excellent "life skills", band, art, and gym classes. School spirit, too! -A paraprofessional at BGMS

Some great facts about BGMS, our band department and overall extracurricular programs. We currently offer to our band students the opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular Jazz Ensemble and if they excel they also have the opportunity to participate in an honor Jazz Ensemble. Our school has had a Jazz Ensemble at contest for 5 years now. We are currently the only TSC Middle School to achieve this. We also have two joint concerts that involves other middle level groups in our corporation. We also have a year round percussion ensemble that anyone can participate. We also provide the same opportunities of other area schools like Solo and Ensemble, Organizational Contest, All-Region Band participants, concerts, along with our curricular program. We host professional musicians 2-3 times a year for student convocations. Along with our outstanding music programs, we currently offer 10 additional academic or accelerated clubs along with our athletic programs and intramurals.

This school has the benefits of a community feeling about it, with caring teachers and parents, but also has the courses and activities you would expect in a larger suburban area. I like that the school focuses on making the most of each student's gifts, not just to pass the i-step tests.

There isn't really a lot at this school extra curricular wise, but the teachers (especially the eighth grade teachers) are excellent. I can't say that music programs are at all good at this school when you compare it to schools like Techumseh and West Lafayette. This school does have its share of cliques, but for the most part the students are very kind to one another and rarely bully one another. The teachers expect most from their students and teach them the best I've seen out of many teachers from different schools. Most of the teachers are excellent. Overall The school is very impressive!

If I were to rate this school on a scale of one to ten I would give it a four. It takes too much time punishing the kids about the little things, that it does not notice the big things.

My experience with other schools and BG schools I've found these BG schools to be the better ones my children get more one on one here and the teachers keep me up dated on their ups and downs! I always tell people BG schools are the best. There is a difference from county and city schools.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
