The Gifted & Talented program is exceptional. It is possible to have 1 years college credit, through Highland College, upon graduation. Many college scholarships available to graduating seniors from community sources. Our child had been in private schools prior to moving to Hiawatha, and has enjoyed the school and it's extracurricular programs. They have been in a very good Band program and in several sports, which would not have been possible in a larger district. I am a former principal, and director of a private school, and the superintendent of this district is the best I've seen in any school district anywhere. The district and school principal are very proactive in making the school a safe environment for the students, Parental involvement is on the level that I've observed in expensive private schools, and makes many of the extracurricular programs possible. It has been a very good experience for our family.
