My son went to this school and another relative is currently attending , all I can say is that the teachers care about the students and seem to find non-traditional ways to enlighten students on subject matters. The support staff(community rep, para's and recovery room instructor)are simply the best. They have help my family in many ways. The Administration staff are matchless.

My younger siblings attend this school and I must say I don't find it the least bit suitable for them. We're originally from California and I have to say we had a slight culture shock when we moved over here. Even though they have the highest grades in the school, the level of education is near the standards that they grew up with, I ask them all the time if they like this school and most of the time they say 'Kinda' but further on explained they only want to stay because of the friends they made. Even though I really don't like this school, any place that teaches is a good thing.

I think that this school struggles with a balance of discipline and compassion. The teachers are hard on students when they need to show compassion, and easy on them when it is time to discipline them. My daughter was to be there this year for 8th grade, and we made a decision together based on the last two years there, that this was not the shcool for her, or me as a parent!!! We decided to home school this year, and weigh our options next year for high schools!! I'd rather my child be home with me and safe, with her feelings not getting hurt, and her not being pushed around, than her go back to that school. Northwest may have gotten better, but you have a long way left to go! Good luck, but you won't be practicing on my child!

Northwest Middle School staff and students are very hard working and the school is getting better daily. In the 07-08 school year Northwest was the ONLY middle school in the district to make AYP in both Reading and Math. That speaks volumes about the school. They are really working hard to make Northwest the best middle school in the district.

My two boys go up to the school, adn I honestly asked 'Do you like your school'. The reponse truelly amazed me 'Yes, Mama'. Not too suprising though the school as a 'ok' reputation the teacher 'really' do care adn there Princpal is wonderful helping out when adn where ever she can.

It has its good and bad points but I could not picture myself going anywhere else. It is okay and think that others would like it up there.
