After doing extensive research on many public and private schools in the Louisville, KY area, we decided to move to Anchorage, KY to take advantage of the wonderful independent public school in the neighborhood. The school lives up to it's excellent reputation with dedicated teachers, phenomenal parental involvement, and good leadership. It provides appropriate educational support for both gifted as well as special needs students. We love the community and school that Anchorage provides!

An independent public school with its own tax base. We found that Anchorage Independent School gave our children all the advantages of a private school for a fraction of the cost! It is consistently ranked the best public school in the state. No buses - kids walk, ride bikes or are carpooled to school.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in reading, social studies, science, writing, and math. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky.
