My son went to this school for 2 years before transfering to walton verona. We did not realize how far behind he was until then. We had to hold him back at Walton because he was a year behind. I would not recommend the Grant county school system to anyone.
The teaching staff and employees are excellent. They are well qualified and I am confident that my children are getting the best education possible. They are also very safe, and that makes me know that my children are safe.
I know that my 5th grader loves this school, we used to joke with him and tell him that we were going to put him in another school district. He would get very upset and say why I make straight A's here I like my school.
This is my sons first year there. He is in Mrs Siffels pm class. You know I never would of thought that my child would be reading to me but he reads to me every single night. All my gratitude and respect goes out to all the help and effort that she has put into my sons learning ability. My son tells me every day how much he like Mrs Siffel and Mrs Jackie. Once again thanks from a very proud mom.
I think that CMZ is a good overall school. I like the new 'color change' system. My child always strives (and succeeds) to stay on green all week and is proud of this achievement. My daughter is learning to read with the help of phonics. She is a very good reader, but is lost when it comes to the phonics coding. I get the impression that many kids have trouble with this and I don't think that the teachers are explaining it well enough. They put strong emphasis on reading and writing and offer lots of parent involvement and family nights every month.
