Henderson County South Middle School

Im very pleased with the way south has handled my son .He had such a hard time at north all they did was treat him like a criminal..Hats off to all involved in the truency program thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

SMS has decent teachers, but too many students per teacher. Teachers, in general, are teaching subjects they are not qualified or trained to teach. The Principal and vice constantly test new ideas, using the students as their guinea pigs, and the students' education suffers. SMS will not get better under current leadership. The parent communication does not exist.

This school likes very much to keeps things hidden from you. They also like to sweep things under the rug when you are not looking. If you have a problem with a teacher it is your problem and never the schools or the teachers. Your concerns are never heard or should I say taken seriously. The teachers can't control the classes.

This school did not contact me to let me know my child was failing. Several parents had the same experience. This school professes to put the education first when in fact the kids fall through the cracks and are at a fourth grade math level. PARENTS BEWARE: Do not rely on the school to keep you informed! When A-B students grades suddenly drop to F's and they do not see fit to contact us that's a problem.

South Middle is a great school. They offer many choices at lunch and in the classrooms. Great gym and auditorium. Good computer supply and technology is up-to-date.
