Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I have a freshman at Bullitt East and so far I think it is agreat school. My daughter likes most of her classes, but doesn't like all the homework. I think she is getting a good education in this district. I also like that they have so many clubs for the teens. Strict dress code and I get grades sent to my phone with the parent portal app.

Teachers are nice..and if there is any questions or concerns all you have to do is call the board of education. They are working on the construction of the school now to help future students. All schools have cut back on funding projects due to the economy..Bullitt East is still a good school...maybe not the best but everyone learns just as our students are learning.

When we first moved to Mt. Washington we were concerned about the quality of education. From elementary to a freshman in HS I truly don't believe we could have made a better decision for our daughter. We have been impressed by the quality of teachers, principals, class content, facilities, parent involvement, and the level of interest my daughter has in school. The board of education is very active and progressive and there are a lot of additional enhancements, to the educational system, coming in Bullitt County. A small county that is on the move. I did not want my daughter going to school in Jefferson County - that system is a mess.

I think my daughters' education has been outstanding and I love the teachers and staff. They seem to really care for the students. There is also a family feel to the school and it seems to have a great group of kids attending there. Great Job!

The principle and staff have a degrading type attitude towards the students. They basically place themselves above their students and parents. I've encountered three incidents with them and all three times they have gone on the offensive and simply have no concern for facts or their own behavior or actions. Dysfunctional. There is no need to talk down on parents or students in the simplest conversations, they actually elevate the circumstance to a conflict. There is no need for such aggression, they are suppose to be professional educators.

As a former student, I saw several principals coming in and out--almost every year I attended. I've never seen a school have so many problems.

I'm disappointed that this school focuses more on the quantity of assistant principals instead of quality. As a parent, it is important that I send my teenage daughter off to school and not have to worry about the environment she is in. However, with Bullitt East, it's an everyday concern. I'm looking into private schools now so that she may get to transfer and actually enjoy her high school years, what's left of them. This school needs to focus on their student body and if nothing else, at least pretend to care about what is going on. This school leaves much to be desired. I for one don't think the administration has what it's going to take to turn this school around. What really gets me, is that they deny having any problems at all.

I honestly do not think the school administration could care any less for their students. I do not believe that they make an effort to reach out and make a difference, nor do they attempt to keep parents informed. However, the teachers (not administration) I've come in contact with, seem to be doing their jobs fairly well. It is disappointing that the 'professionals' who represent a school could do such a poor job. Time after time (with my experience) they have failed to make even a small effort to protect their student body. I would expect more out of a school; unfortunately, this one doesn't seem to have any expectations for itself.

My son is autistic. He attended a private school for the first 8 years. I met the attendance clerk in town and she highly recommended BEHS for our son. She was so right. He has excelled academically and socially. He is now a senior and he will really miss the awesome support and integration that the teachers, counselors and staff have shown him. The student body has been nothing less than gracious and accepting. When we go into a local shop, and there are teens working, they always speak to our son. He has 'buddies' that sit with him in lunch, play ball and include him in physical ed courses, and genuinly accept him. We plan to donate some funds and contribute to it each year for the Special Ed at BEHS. It's an exceptional, inclusive environment, from top to bottom.
