I love Dozier as a school for my kids.I went there and won't have my kids go anywhere else. The teachers are great with the kids. My kids have learned so much in preparing for their future. This is the school every parent wants to send there kid to.Thanks to all the staff at Dozier!
All in all, I think Dozier is an excellent school. The teachers are dedicated and work very hard. They are under a lot of pressure from the state and district, and do their best to meet state and federal accountability requirements. The school does a good job of reaching out to parents and the community by hosting curriculum activities for parents and students. However, the school is overcrowded. Recent flooding by Hurricane Rita has left the physical plant of the school in a less than desirable state. Administrators could do a better job of handling discipline. Teachers do not receive enough administrative support in handling discipline problems.
I feel Dozier Elementary is an exemplary school with high expectations which prepare the students for today's world. The combination of the mandated expectations concerning the National 'No Child Left Behind Act' and 'State Expectations' are attempting to prepare it s children for a better future. This school fits that bill. The teachers and leaders are compassionate, caring and outstanding. Parental involvement days included inviting parents to view specific curriculum areas. These academic activity days included 'Reading Connections Day', 'Math Day', 'Science Night' and 'Technology Day'. The school is open to the community by offering activities which have parents in the classroom to view lessons and offer insight as to what is being taught. The leaders and teachers are always willing to help and guide. The goal of the faculty is simple, to prepare the students for their future. All in all, it is a great school.
this is a safe place for children to learn. somestimes they forget the they are children and push them too hard. they say they want parent involment but i think they would prefer we let them do and us not have input on our children's education. i think the stress level is high, the children are stressed and so are the parents. i believe it's grown too fast and they are pressured by that. too many kids in the class room. teachers out of the class too much. a substitute 2-3 days out of the week is not good for the rate and material they teach. their discipline policy is first and formost sometimes too much. when you hear your children playing school at night and all the do is scream and punish their 'play students' is says a lot about what's going on at school.
