I am a student at ellender and i honesrly think its a good school the only thing is they worry abt some pretty stupid things like cell phones. Just about every one at school has some kind of after school practice. I know i do and for some reason they always let us out early and how and i supposed to call my mom to come and get me if i cant call her. They do cell phone searches alllll the time to try and take peoples cell phones and then they go through everything on your phone trying to get in all of your buisness. They shouldnt do that because it is none of there buisness what students talk about. I think as long as your phone is off and you are not texting you should be able to have your phone at school.

I currently attend EMHS. I must say that it is an excellent school. Most people thaink that the diversity of the student population is a bad thing. They also say that Ellender does not provide an adequate education. I would definitely have to disagree with both.

I am currtently a student a EMHS. most people say that Ellender is a horrible school but the only reason that they think that is because they haven't been to ellender. Although i may think that that funding should be more divided up than it already is. I mean if Student Council had more money i think we could do alot more to show the people that Ellender isn't so bad. sure we havve a few fights here and there but what school doesnt?!?! All that I am saying is i think Ellender Memorial High School is an awsome high school to go to.

When people make a complaint about Ellender they are really making a complaint about the state of East Houma. Yeah, Ellender staff can't always find the answers to reach some of our kids...but on the same note, these kids are a product of their upbringing. It is hard for teachers at Ellender to inspire a kid to value their education then the kid's own parents are telling the kid that they don't need an education. It is an uphill battle. The leadership at Ellender is excellent, from the top on down. Let's talk about how many hundreds of kids Ellender has saved rather than the few we have lost.

As a teacher at EMHS, I have to say that we have a great student body. We have a very diverse population, but the students all get along very well. Our staff works together to help our students achieve success. Many of our students lost a great deal after Hurricane Rita last year, but they didn't let that hold them back. It is a challenge to teach at a school where students do not have many of the advantages with which many of us are blessed, but the school tries very hard to provide items for student use that their homes may be lacking. Our technology access is improving, but we still need more computers for students to use. I enjoy teaching at EMHS. We truly do care about our students. I have been there for 4 years now, and I intend to stay.

This school needs a major face lift, because from principal on down there seems to be the need to motivate the students. Most of the children need more then just a stern discipline, they need understanding, concern; but how can this be done when the staff just can't seem to understand where these kids come from and what makes them tick. Get it together staff the school is crumbling just before your eyes.

I currently have one child enrolled at Ellender Memorial High School. I, myself, am not very pleased with the leadership at the school. I do not feel that they practice equality there. The old saying ' good for one, good for all ' diffently does not apply. The school does have some wonderful extracurricular activities which does help in keeping our children safe. However, as I mentioned above, the leadership abilities could use some restructuring.

This school is still a young school but has superior teachers. I graduated from here in 2000 and am extremely thankful for the education I recieved here.

I feel that the Terrebonne Parish Public School dress code policy should be mandatory for all teatchers and faculty as well as to the students. Not only for the students as it curently is in this area. Althouh I do feel that it should totaly be gone with. Because the teachers spend to much time demanding that you dress properly at school, rather than teaching us students.
