i think this is a great school, where every parent want their child to spend most of their time at school learning positive things.

This has been this best experience I have with a school. The teachers and Faculty are both sincere and knowledgeable. They treat the children as they were their own. They teach core values such as respect and independence. This school is a joy to a single parent

I go to John l ory and I believe that, compared to other schools in the parish mine is the best. Acedimically, almost every person in my class understands the lessons as soon as the teacher says them. If you go to john l ory, your child will certainly learn more than they ever would at any other school. Your child will not only grow accedimically, but socially as well. At John l ory, it doesnt matter who you are or where you came from, you will make tons of new friends. I just love john l ory's physical education program too. I just found out that I could play volleyball, football, and any other sport someone throws at me.

No school in this parish can compare to the curriculum and teaching staff. A model school that has a waiting list.

Everyone states how great this school is. This was not my experience. The principal is very unreasonable and in my opinion very judgemental. We took our daughter out of this school and she had nothing but great success. The pricipal do not think outside of the box and wants all students to fit in the one mold. Guess what this is not real world. I would never recommend this school to anyone. Keep in mind it's not difficult to be a shining star among such low performing schools.

This is the ONLY public school in St. John Parish that I would send my daughter to. I am so thankful that she was selected! My daughter has grown so much, both academically and socially since she started attending this school. The teachers are wonderful and the principal, Mrs. Noel, truly cares about the students. The faculty and staff really have their act together. I wish the grade levels would go all the way through high school.

My son has attended this school since kindergarten. I am very pleased academically. The principal is very strong and expects great things from the students and they respect her and deliver. The parental support at this school is strong which I believe leads to strong kids and academic success.

I have two girls, and they have been very challenged since they have attended this school, the amount of reading and testing is unbelievable. I don't think any school in the parish can compete with John L Ory. The discipline is there and very much enforced. I feel my children will be very prepared for high school when the time comes. Hope Falgoust

This is a great school full of parental involvement, lots of hard work, strict discipline , but fun school . This is the best in the parish. Wish it would go up to 12th grade.

I have 4 children who have attended or still attend John L Ory and they love it. The teachers are caring, the children are well disciplined as well. Very organized, in my opinion the best public elementary school in St. John Parish.

My son has done very well at this school. This school has been a blessing in our lives! The staff and teachers are wonderful and caring. They have great Leap and Iowa results. The school is very organized and disciplined. I am very happy my son attends this school. My older girls went there and we still keep in touch with some teachers there. Now hopefully my four year old will attend.

This school has been a blessing in our lives! Being one of the only decent schools in a very educationally lacking parish, both of my children have had wonderful experiences at this school!

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
