SFHS is an incredible school that educates the WHOLE child - focusing not only on academics and athletics, but arts, law and health/medicine. More importantly, they educate and encourage a child to grow in their faith journey regardless of their church affiliation while still staying true to their Catholic tradition. Instead of just seven classes each day, my child takes eight which enable him to take a structured P.E. class (much more than just running laps) AND a sports medicine class - which is what he chose! He had the option of others - home ec, business law, photography and some others that I can't even remember. All of these classes are taught by highly qualified teachers and he is thriving! If you are unsure about where to send your child, you should DEFINITELY schedule a tour with the principal, Mrs. Patrick - she's wonderful! I am SO glad that we did - my child is doing amazing at St. Fred's and he loves it!
I have two kids at St. Freds and it has been the best environment for them that I could have asked for. Our school is changing for the best, and the future is very good for St. Freds. The person who wrote the earlier post about Italiansand drugs obviously is not involved with St. Freds. Anyone of any race, sex, or religion fits in just fine at the school and there is definitely not a drug problem here.
SFHS continues to push all of its students to reach as high as they can in academics, faith, and their areas of interest outside the classroom. With the leadership of Fr. Long and Lisa Patrick the school will continue to move toward its mission.
Wonderful school. I attended public school in this area, would not send my children anywhere else but SFHS. The leadership strives for perfection in all areas of academics, athletics and many other aspects of high school life. The kids and their education are top priority. The job of educating is being done at SFHS.
I am not Italian and I was raised baptist. However, my children have thrived at SFHS. I have never seen anyone get special privilages or be degraded due to their race or religion. I have never seen any evidence of drug use in the four years I have been associated with SFHS. This average ACT score at SFHS is one of the highest in the Monroe area.
This school has been a perfect fit for my children. A welcoming environment, excellent academics, and values similar to my families'. My third child will definitely be going there!
St. Frederick High School is a great school. Each child is encouraged to do their personal best without being labeled as the smart or dumb kids. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The principal is kind and knows each child by name. He is a great example of a leader. This is a great environment for everyone. One big plus about SFHS is that the parents are very involved. Not only in the academics but also the athletics.
