My student's 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Foster, was the best ever. She taught my child so much. We love her. The school has difficulty with holding onto the teachers. There is very little teacher support. The school has a big employee turn around, which is not good for the success of the students. I would recommend the school to others, but I feel uncomfortable about not knowing if there will be a teacher or not.
I believe that the school effectively deals with student bullying. It is not usually tolerated. But students often misbehave. Teachers get little support when in situations with disrespectful students.
There is no teacher support. When students are at fault, there is no student accountability. One of the best teachers did not return because lack of teacher support and lack student accountability. I do not teach my children how to disrespect teachers and get away with it.
i went to this school and everyone treated me like family and ive been there since pre-k and i have family there. the teachers are amazing. there is rarely bullying so i recommend this school to parents.
Some staff is good; most need improvement. Teachers (some) are always yelling at students, not good. I am aware that children need discipline but constantly yelling is not going to produce good results. Marlon is awesome, and so is Mr. London & Mrs. Paul; they keep this school going. A better discipline plan needs to be implemented for 5-8 grade. They also need teacher assistants for grades pk-2 and another school counsler to assist Ms. Latter (she is also an asset to the school)..
Dwight Eisenhower had some amazing teachers when I taught there (2012) but there were major problems at the school. Many teachers spoke using slang and improper grammar, the principal does little to require parent involvement, little and/or inadequate security for teachers was provided and a lack of true concern by administrators, for each students' future. Instead, test scores were more important than producing well-rounded, future leaders.
With parental presence to show support for your child & a team effort w/ the teacher(s), u can get what you put into it. This means constant communication re: homework and test dates and helping your child at home. Improvements have been made post storm to deal with discipline problems w/a new principle & the presence of security guards. Lunch prep, quality & selection needs imprvt.
