We went here for one year and couldn't leave fast enough. The teachers and staff cared more about my child learning to say No Maam and Yes Maam than they did the academics. In volunteering in the school I frequently heard the children labeled as bad while the child could hear. One time the teacher asked me to volunteer sub for half an hour and she was gone three hours. Left me without a lesson plan - just a bunch of primary kids staring at me. Also, they only allow the children to go to the bathroom on lunch breaks and encourage the kindergarten parents to send their child with a change of clothes and/or in a pull up. I was aghast and very happy to move out of the parish to better schools in EBR.
i love this school i think out of all the school by far oak grove is the best the stuff is always helping our kids and trying to go the extra mile to help kids that are having trouble in everything or for whatever reason i love this school alot !!!!
To brag about our school will not be hard..... The office staff, teachers, lunch ladies, bus drivers and janitors are all so wonderful. I have vol. as hospitality for all 5 years and have had the privilege to get to know almost everyone. I can honeslty say it is like one big family. Our children, families and community are all very blessed.
We have some of the Best teachers and they truly care if our children understand what they are teaching. Even our janitors and Lunch room ladies are wonderful. They want the best for our children like they were their own.
This is the school my youngest child attended and now my grandchildren attend. The teachers and staff are very attentaive to the children's needs and the academics are superb. Thanks Oak Grove!!!!!
It is a terrific school where the teachers care about our kids. I know that my kids are safe when they are at Oak Grove as well as learning from the best of the best.
My son attended OGP this year and I must say I was completely pleased! His teacher was wonderful and really cared about her students. This school challenges the children to be respectful and to put there best foot forward! I have nothing but high praises for this school and it's staff!
Great school. Lot's of advanced learning and multi-level/sensoral teaching. The Administrators, Teachers, and Staff are all the 'creme de la creme' of educators and they all feel lucky to be a part of this school. There are many reasons Oak Grove Primary is a 4-star SACS Accredited School, but, mainly it's because everyone there wants to be there, and want to teach our children beyond all expectations.
Oak Grove's teachers and staff will do anything to help educate our children. The new principal has made the atmosphere friendlier for the students and she has begun to reintroduce personal touches back into the schol environment. I have always been very happy with this school and would recommend it to anyone.
My son began kindergarten at OGP this fall and absolutely loves it! There is a new principal and asst. principal as the others retired...but so far so good. They have the top scores of any other primary school in Ascension Parish and I couldn't have chosen a better school.
As a parent of two attending Oak Grove Primary, it is an honor for me to tell others who may read this what a wonderful school OGP is. Both of my children have excellent teachers who do so many academic activites that I feel would be considered as 'going the extra mile' for their students. As a parent, I am very pleased with how well OGP keeps parents informed of what is going on. The office staff is always very friendly and helpful when I am there. I heard about Oak Grove from other parents, which is the reason we bought our home several years ago in the Prairieville area, just before our oldest child started Kindergarten. I am thrilled with the education my children are receiving at OGP.
I find OGP to be an excellent school for my children. I was skeptical moving from Texas to Louisiana at first. I was afraid of my children suffering academically. I felt an assurrance and peace once I researched the area and found OGP. The school is the reason we bought our house. The teachers and the principals go out of their way to accomodate the needs of each student. I am extrememly pleased with OGP and plan to tell others.
Oak Grove Primary is one of the best schools in the state. It has been rated a five-star school because of its incredibly high test scores. The administration, faculty, and staff are certainly the ones to thank for this. They are a very hard-working, highly qualified, loving family that cares for the students as well as the community of Oak Grove. I always feel welcome there because everyone is so genuine and down-to-earth. If you are looking for a top-notch academic school that truly cares about the education and well-being of your child, Oak Grove Primary in Prairieville is the one for you.
'I think the school is a top notch school. I have two children enrolled and they are doing very well. I hate that they have to leave at the end of the 4th grade. As for public schools in Ascension Parish OGP School is far better of a school than most throughout the system.'
I agree with the bullying problem at this school it's the administration doing it. Yes, the test scores are good and all, but if you have a problem with anything and don't agree 100% with staff, everyone immediately goes on the defensive and you are labeled a problem. God forbid that your child would have special needs and need special attention that goes outside of the cirriculum schedule and is not deemed a priority. The main priority at this school is LEAP scores. In closing, if you're not part of the administration's Mutual Admiration Society, then you are snubbed.
I am very disappointed in this school. The scores are high, but the children have no outlet to become a well rounded individual. The school is overcrowded with about 15 T-buildings and school safety is a big issue. Administrators say one thing to your face, but then do what they want. Many of the teachers are not trained on how to deal with children with exceptionalities and many have very little experience. Children are also deprived of art, music, and foreign language in preparation for LEAP testing. I have also found that this school has a bullying problem and the administration is in denial. There are many other good schools in the area that are less crowded and more supportive.
I have to say Oak Grove Primary school appears to be the choice of champions to attend, but there is another side of this school that is not relaed home to the parents. My experinces with this school has found it to be extremley snobby and very 'SELECTIVE' on the students attending. I have found that the administration hides behind their smiles and hugs while actting as a secret conspiaring body. It is a total outrage how students of lesser backgrounds are treated as though they are not there to learn but to interrupt the learning process of the more weel-off students. While this is not the case for the majority of teachers it does reach high enough into the rankings to be a problem. I feel that if you want your child to grow mentally and be able to handle other cultures do not send your child to this school.
This is the absolute best school in Louisiana. The teachers are phenomenal. The level of parental involvement is high, and the PTO does an excellent job of organizing easy fundraisers for the students. The principal was named Principal of the Year this year. My daughter has received an excellent education from this school, and I look forward to sending my son here, as well. There is no better school than this one in Ascension Parish. I highly recommend it. Your child will receive a top-notch education here.
