Surry Elementary School does an excellent job educating my three children! I am amazed at the amount of respect, honesty, and compassion my students receive from each teacher in that building. I think it is very unfortunate that they appear to be not valued by people of the community, especially after recent events transpired and mud-slinging seemed to commence. It is really sad that people would listen to one voice over the many positive voices inside the school. We need to come together as a community, as a town, and as a united voice and speak up for continuing our children's education; especially in this day and age. I can't give enough credit to the caring, responsible, and great K-3 team currently in place, and I am looking forward to meeting and working with each teacher as my children grow. Keep up the good work, Surry Staff!
This school focuses very litle on preparing students for high school and more on its liberal agenda. There are too many teachers who have become stale in thier jobs.
this school is amazing. i wish my kids went there.
I am a parent of a student in the Surry Elementary School. This is a school where regulations and guidelines override the students needs for a good education The school's focus is clearly on sports with a large blind spot for the arts. I find it odd also that there are 2 large ad's on the sports field for Coke. I do not like my child being advertised to in school. Also vending machines that sell sugar stuff in the school I think are a bad marriage between a good education and good health. The School lunch program meets all the states requirements that it needs to, but really misses the fundamental understanding of good nutrition. This school has a motivated principal with a good heart but I do think he also need much improvement with communication and developing a relationship with the community this school serves.
