Garrett Heights is a great school and in 2012 made MSA for the first time in many years. Since last year there has been a big effort going on to make sure students get what they need to be sucessful. I am very impressed with the new teachers in the building this year. They are always working very hard and seem very skilled and organized. One big change is that there are alot of computers everywhere. There are two laptop carts and two computer labs! The students all seem very happy. This school is definatly on the up swing with parents and teachers that really care!

This school has definitely gone downhill since I attended (class of 2000) . My daughter is in Kindergarten this year and although most of the teachers who have been there for years are great, it is the environment. There really are not a lot of resources for the students and not a lot of activities in terms of focusing on arts, sciences, or math. There is also the issue of not working with the more advanced students or the students that are not up with the rest of the students. They teach them at the same time and pace, which holds the more advanced students back and leaves the ones that need more assistance to catch up quickly. That also goes for students with behavioral problems, instead of separating them from the rest of the students, they hold the class back. I personally do not feel that mixing the elementary students with the middle school students is a good idea, especially when there are issues with profanity around the little ones and bad behavior. I really don't feel like the principal is as up to par as the ones in the past. I am trying to get my child in a charter school next year. This school is better than a lot of city schools, but it is still going downhill.

This school is absolutely a total and utter disaster! Most of the parents in the neighborhood (those who can afford it) send their children to private schools. I wish I had that option. When ever I have an issue I'm always sent to talk to someone other than the principle, I've never met the principle even when I requested. My biggest issue is bullying, which I have complained about for a year and nothing has been done. Problematic children are a big problem at this school as consequences aren't enforced and there doesn't seem to be any order and discipline. The teachers are overwhelmed and unorganized. There doesn't seem to be any leadership at this school. The school while beautiful on the outside is an terrible need of repairs. I will send my child to another school next year. This school has been nothing but a big headache!

Garrett Heights is a solid school. The principal is a strong leader with the children's best interest at heart. While it is not 'perfect' it is safe and orderly.

I know this school is outstanding. It is clean, the teachers are professional. My daughter was on the principal's list for all year. They encourage children to be the best.

Garrett Heights is indeed one of America's best kept secrets. The principal Yetty Kearney is a very concerned principal and the teachers there go above and beyond.I have visited many schools and none compare to Garrett Heights. You never really know what a jewel you have until you no longer have it .I love Garrett Heights!

Garrett Heights Elementary School is a school where teachers, parents, and the principal all work together to make the school a better place. The teachers are dedicated and really care about the students. Mrs. Kearney, the principal has been at the school for 12 years and in my opinion is the best thing to happen to an elementary school. We have many different students, from different backgrounds who work together beautifully.
