All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I must say I was nervous when my son 1st attended Leith Walk. We moved from PG county and I didn't think I would be as happy or pleased as I am. His teacher Miss Wagoner s an excellent teacher. Her teaching methods, class room skills and communication with parents has helped both my son and I transitioned beautifully into the Baltimore City Schools. C.Jackson

My son was a student at Leith Walk from Pre-K to Fifth grade and I currently have my other son in 2nd grade. I am very impressed by the leadership of the Principal Mrs. Greer, the great staff and excellent teachers at Leith Walk, AND QUALITY of education received at the school. Mrs. Greer is always pushing the children to work very hard, and this shows on the school test scores. Hats off to all Leith Walk Staff.

I am pleased with the way the school is operated. I am a former Leith Walk student and even when i was a student there, the school was in tip top shape! Mrs.Greer has been an amazing principal, she makes sure she invests in the BEST for the students, staff and even the parents. I am extremely happy that i will be sending my son there next school year.

My son has just completed the 5th grade and these last few years have been very good. I posted a post a while back because I was very unsatisfied with that school year. Since then my son have received a better education. The 5th grade year was hard but I appreciated it. The principal makes sure she is on top of everything. If you have a problem dont hesitate to talk to the assisant principals. They definitely follow the chain of command.

I feel that Leith Walk has been excellent since I attended with Ms. Greer as my principal, my sister's principal, and now my daughter's principal. My daughter has been at Leith Walk since Kindergarten and I can not say enough nice things about this school. Mrs. Greer has given her all & all to every last student, activity, and parent. She has excellent teachers who care, Mrs. Pertee has been a GREAT teacher who pushes all children to master any skill. Ms. Flynn has done wonders of performances and allowing children to embrace and ambark upon new areas of tap & art. This school serves its community, families, and students 200% every day and the test scoress show it!! As a teacher, its sad to the fact that every school cannot have a Mrs. Greer but I feel so blessed that my child is under her that she may experience great education!! Keep up the great work

To Ms. Wagoner She is my son's second grade teacher at Leith Walk. I must say she has given one hundred and ten percent to my child and to the other student's in her class. She is present daily, daily homework given(reading and math), classroom management is on point, and challenge herself to creative/develop extra assignment to improve academic skills for my hearing impair son, who is in her class. With sincere thanks, Mom K. James

My daughter is a student @ Leithwalk and I must say I love the school and their focus on curriculum. Ms. Greer is a no nonsense principal and @ times can be chastising however it maybe needed in order for her to get the job done. Of course as with any school they have downsides such as the morning and afternoon traffic which is A TOTAL MESS!!!!! As well as some teachers who are rude.

This is my child s first year at Leith Walk and I must say I am not IMPRESSED! I ve heard so many reviews about how good Leith Walk is and how Mrs. Greer is managing the school. I honestly feel like after 30years which Mrs. Greer constantly reminds the parents of---she needs to retire. I am very active in my child s education and I m proud to say she is reading and doing math above grade level mainly due to the private school she attended before and my work at home. However, I notice that a few of the teachers seem unmotivated and more focused on getting a pay check---no passion. This was not the case when she was in private school. I feel sorry for the kids who don t have parents at home who can build and hone their skills because they will fall behind at Leith Walk---my daughter s homework is often unchallenging and as one parent mentioned there are NUMEROUS typos in both homework and newsletters to parents. So for me I m not believing the HYPE about Leith Walk I m looking into getting my child into a Charter school or back in private which is more conducive to her learning.

I absolutely love Leithwalk Elementary School!!! All 4 of my children attend. Leithwalk embodies everything I want in a perfect school. The school provides a safe learning environment, excellent cirriculum, and a host of extra cirricular activities for the children. I especially love that parents and teachers are very much involved in keeping our children on track academically, socially and emotionally. Kudos to the Principal, Staff, Administrators, and Parents. Keep up the good work :0)

I am a graduate from Leith Walk Elementary and,i am now on my way to college. My experience at Leith Walk was the best. The teachers were awesome and the support and love they gave to us was even better. Being at Leith Walk was wonderful and there was never a day i didnt feel like going. I had so much to look forward to. I enjoyed being active in the school as well. While i was there, i participated in band, tap, and kid-cast. The school is under a great leadership of Ms. Greer. She is a wonderful person in and outside of school. Her spirit is the best and she cares so much for her kids. She made it a comfortable environment to be in and, a place where kids are destined for greatness. I loved every bit of Leith Walk and all that the school had to offer.

Mrs. Grier and the staff are all great...especially Mr. Campbell, Mrs. Zito and Mrs. Roland, Ms. Schwenke and Mrs. Green. I'm just disappointed in the bathrooms and some of the deplorable conditions in the class rooms. The city pay can pay all of this money to make these fancy buses and bus stops but can't shell out the cash needed to make the bathrooms look better??!!! Lexington Market's bathroom looks better than that. Most of the classrooms are falling apart and the portables always smell of urine

All three of my children have or currently attend Leith Walk. I would never even consider another school. The standards are high and the students are happy and learning about life beyond their surroundings. Many cultural backgrounds are represented there and the children get a chance to explore these various cultures throughout every school year. I believe Leith Walk is producing great citizens and great leaders.

I am completely dissatisfied with this school and have been since my child entered . Unfortunately it is my neighborhood school, and I can't afford private or else we'd have been out of there. Hopefully I can get to a better school district very soon as I cannot stand much more of Leithwalk. Ms. Greer chastises parents in her newsletters like we're the students with typos throughout. Some very nice staff and teachers though among some very unpleasant and seemingly unmotivated ones. Balto. City schools overall are terrible in comparison to county counterparts. Books scarce, run down buildings make no sense. A new principal is needed not to scold all the time but to exude professionalism and educational expertise. This is what Leithwalk lacks. Kudos to Ms. Scott-one of the unsung heroes of Leithwalk. I've observed her in her capacity over the years and all I can say is great job!

Great school. My son went to Northwood previously, I am so happy he is out of there! My son's hair began to fall out while going there. The dermatologist diagnosed him with stress @ 4 years old. Since going to Leith walk his hair has grown back and he is doing an awesome job. Thanks Mrs.Greer, Robinson, Zito, and Ms. Schewenke!!!!!

This my first year at Leith Walk Elementary. I'm very impressed with what I have seen so far. That Ms. Greer is the best! I pray she does not retire before my child leaves the school. Her passion for education and love for our children is priceless. We are blessed to have her as our principal! Leith Walk thank you for taking the hood out of our public school! About one percent of your staff does need customer service training. But to your 99% that doesn't keep up the good work!!! I agree Ms. Scott and Ms. Sasha (before care and after care) ladies you are a pleasure to work with. To you and your staff thank you for doing a great job with our children!

My child is in his second year at Leith Walk. I also attended Leith Walk as a child. Things have not changed as far as the structure of this school. It is a wonderful environment for students to learn as well as interact with other students and staff. I see many reviews here about Ms. Greer, in that she 'doesn't play.' She is a wonderful principal and had she not still been the principal, my son would not be attending this school. It is not that she is too stern, but it is that she has high expectations and standards for the students that she oversees as well as the staff of teachers. Besides some of her office staff (except Ms. Scott), I have nothing bad to say about this place. It makes me proud to know that my son will be here when this school becomes Leith Walk Elementary- Middle.

I love this school. My son started there last year in Pre k and he learn so much stuff. He knows how to count, read, spell, and alot of other stuff, and he is only 5 years old. The teachers are wonderful and Mrs. Greer is great. She is loud but she loves the children and she pushes them to be execellent in school. I moved from the area and I fought to keep my son thier because I knew if he stay there he will be a good honor student. My other son will be entering Pre k this year, so Im excited for that. This is a great school you should try it out.

My son is just finishing his first year at Leith Walk. Overall, we had a good first year. The teachers work hard but with learning and education...the foundation MUST be in the home. The parents MUST take an active role in their child's education. My son is completing first grade with Mrs. Weems. There were some problems after his transition into this environment but I am actively involved in my child's ecucation, therefore the problems were addressed and we moved on. I will have a second child attending next year. I love Mrs. Greer.... she loves the kids and she does not play. Our children need discipline and she definitely teaches them to be responsible and respectful and that learning can be fun. My son competed in both the Math Bee and the Spelling Bee this year and he loved it. LeithWalk is definitely one of the better City Schools.

As long as i have known Leith Walk has been an excellent school. Never have i once heard anything neg. Alot of parnebts complain about the principal, but she is not at Leith Walk to be your best friend she is there to get your kids off with a great education. So i give Leith Walk a big Toot Toot. I was achild coming from an inner city school and my mom transferred me to Leith Walk and believe me it changed my life in so many was to want to strive for more. Ms. Geer and her staff work hard. So am glad that my child attends Leith Walk and my other child will be coming from head start to Leith Walk. Parnets need to rememeber that school teaches you but first it start in the HOMES. Teach your kids about a HEALTHY FAMILY.

Leithwalk is a great school, but it is overcrowded. The traffic in the moning and the afternoon is crazy. Mrs. Greer is only concerned with the high acheivers, if your child is not highly abled, he/she will be lost. There is no place there for children that have learning challenges.

In my opinion, I think Leith Walk is a great school. I have a host of neices and nephews that have attended the school and have gone on to college. My Grandson now attends the school. Coming from a private school, the expectations that I had have been met. Ms. Greer is tough and keeps to her standards. The no nonsense policy is great. I would like to see more Parent participation. Overall, it is a pretty good school.

My daughter attends Leith Walk now. Leith Walk is a very good school. They have they're up's and down's but it's a very good school. Go on-line and look at the over all msa scores. Regardless of the principal's ways, she knows how to run that school. I must admit, she is controlling but her job is to run that school not to make the parent love her. She's a female Joe Clark from lean on me. I love it. Sometimes I find myself getting weak with my own child because we love them so much, but Mrs Greer stern attitude is a help in my household.

The sad reality is that Leithwalk is one of the best schools in Baltimore City in terms of the standardized test scores. But there are some major concerns with regard to this school in my opinion. I agree that the principal is rude. If you plan to enroll your child in this school make certain that you are ready to play politics. Just take a visit, particularily during the one PTA meeting at the beginning of the year or during assemblies. It is quite sad.

My daughter attends leith walk. This is her first year and she absolutely hates it and so do i! I know it is tough to be teacher but i think the expectations for our children need to be raised and the parents need to be held accountable for their behavior. There is no parent involvment group and the pta only meets once a year - to collect membership dues the first week of school. Our children are in trouble and nobody is paying attention. Parents please get involved. Make a difference at your childs school. They need you!

I'm a former student of Leith Walk. Right now I'm in my last year of high school and preparing for college. After reading some of the reviews, I wasn't pleased with how one former student put down Leith Walk. I believe this school is one of the best public elementary schools in Baltimore. I can only vouch for the years that I attended the school. No offense but have you ever tried to teach a class? The way kids are growing up now, the teachers are not only there to teach but also there to discipline. I always tell everyone that I hope Mrs. Greer is still the principal when I have children. She is a very welcoming leader. My gratitude also goes out to Dr.Hales, Ms.Adams, Ms.Pertee,Ms.Burnett, Ms.Lauer, Ms.Cherry, Ms.Davis, Ms.Flynn, Ms.Armstrong and Mr.Freeman. All of these teachers and administrators helped make my six years pleasant.

Leith walk is an excellent school. The teachers are top of the line. And the office staff goes beyond the call of duty. There are times when i don't like what's going on but that is with any school. There are teachers like mrs.Zito,mrs.P.Wilson,ms.Oliver,mrs.Perry and mrs. Mondell who are just fantastic with the kids.Alot of children go through alot at home, and with caring teachers they make it.There are cafeteria helpers like mr.Weems, and ms.Lancaster who are stern but who shows love to the kids in the same hand.My children are in the 2nd and 4th grades and i do not want them to graduate from leith walk.As mrs.Greer says a toot-toot salute to leith walk elementary school for being one of the top schools in the city of baltimore.Keep up the good work.

My son have been at that school since the first grade and he does good but I truly dont think that any Baltimore City Public Schools curriculum hardly teaches a child what private schools does or Baltimore County schools. I have families in both environments and when I compare my sons math etc to another peer in his grade or in a lower grade from a private school or county school the lower grade student have the same math if not a little more advanced and the peer in his grade will definately be far ahead in thier work. Leith walk is a great Baltimore City Public School but it is a shame what the BCPSS curriculum consist of because it does not really prepare students for a future unless they are in an advanced academic class or parents teach them advanced work at home etc. Forinstance SAT test.

Leith Walk is an okay school... for the most part.Yes it may have some good qualities as far as the teaching fundamentas. But there are some areas lacking tremndously. For instance some of the teachers are rude to the children. I have experinced this first hand. One of my favorite teachers is Ms Armstrong. She is the music teacher. She interacts with the children as if they were her own. She is very funny. Some people say she is mean, but she is not. She just is very direct.

My sons (21yrs) and (9yrs) and daughter (11yrs) all attended Leith Walk since Prekindergarten and 3rd grade. You could not ask for a better learning environment. My oldest son is in college performing well and now that my 11-year-old is moving on to middle school, I am once again, more appreciative of the foundation that was laid for them at Leith Walk. They never forget their own. They reward academic excellence, even to students who have excelled beyond the high school and college level. The extracurricular activities bring out the talents in the kids. The Principal always has the support of the parents, teachers, staff and volunteers. Hats off for the 5 Cs that they have and will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

This is my daughter's second year at Leith Walk. She's in the third grade. When I transferred my daughter to Leith Walk, I saw a big difference from her previous school. The school was bright, vibrant, very inviting. It made me say 'Wow!' The teachers are excellent, no nonsense, firm but loving teachers. The principal is a jewel. She's like a mom away from home. She's very aware and attentive to the students. Just like the teachers, she's no nonsense, firm but loving. The aides, the office staff, the parents all work together to achieve one goal. That's to give our children a winning chance at learning, they believe in academic achievement and excellence. Thank you Leith Walk for bringing out the best in my daughter.
