INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I have a fourth grader a RFES and he has been here since first grade. I love the school and the teachers are very communicative with parents and will address any concern at any time. My son's teacher often sends emails to us of pics that he takes of the kids doing group work or other in-class projects so we get a good idea of what goes on in class. The PTA is great and sponsors lots of assemblies for the kids' enrichment. Overall, a great school. I think they are going through some growing pains with the new Core curriculum but it seems as if the whole district is having difficulty getting this new curriculum off the ground.

I have two children currently enrolled at RFES and two more who will eventually enter. My two currently enrolled children are at opposite ends...one is a challenge and the other is exceptionally bright. RFES has been amazing about approaching each child to meet his/her needs and abilities and working with us to make sure our children have what they need to be successful. The teachers are very proactive and hands on and do an excellent job communicating with us. My children are learning in leaps and bounds and genuinely LOVE going to school. I can really see progress every day. And the social opportunities RFES affords my children is unlike anything I've ever seen at any other school. The community of parents and teachers makes this a great school. I'm glad I opted for public school for my children.

Despite being hundreds of students over capacity, this school continues to excel all around. The teachers, administrators and staff are all wonderful. RFES has lots of parent support as well. I am proud to send my son to Rodgers Forge.

It is such a caring and nurturing environment for students. Students from all different cultures and backgrounds come together to learn in an environment that celebrates their differences yet fosters a real sense of community.

The teachers are amazing! They go above and beyond their duties to meet the needs of the children. The school itself reaches out to the community, supports the students inside and outside of the school, and provides resources for the parents, community, and students to use on a regular basis. Regardless of the severe over-crowding issues at RFES the teachers accomodate all learners and meet the needs of every individual.

Rodgers Forge Elementary School has great, caring teachers and a principal who truly cares about what is best for children. The are hundreds of parent volunteers who rack up thousands of volunteer hours each year supporting our school in every way possible. Many parents were students at Rodgers Forge! The school is at the center of our community.

This school is impacted by the overcrowing situation. The education is strong but I think the children are paying the price. The kids can't talk--anywhere! There are constantly being told to be quite. My daughter says she can't get to know other kids because there is no chance to talk. It seems like all work and no play. That is not fun and school should be more than just academics.

This school continues to have great teachers and administrators, and involved parents. But Rodgers Forge faces a crisis. The school is now extremely overcrowded. The school nurse is having to turn sick children away. The toilets are breaking down regularly from overuse. Classrooms are packed. WIth a state-rated capacity of 408, the school enrollment now sits at 625. And that number is expected to reach 700 next year. What's worse, Baltimore County has no plan to solve the problem. And, in fact, has not even made it a priority. How long can a good school stay good? You can learn more at www.towsonfamiliesunited.com, begun by a group of concerned Towson parents.

As a former student, I enjoyed going to RFES very much. It was a kind of second home. However, I am dissapointed that the school has declined since I have left. It is hardly the wonderful place it was when I was there.

My child has a learning disability and has repeatedly surprised us with his on-going progress. I credit his enthuasium and desire to exceed to the patience of his teachers. My only concern is the parents who drop off their children with 'dog in tow', which was noted under the Safety and category heading.
