Ellicott Mills Middle School

EMMS is a wonderful middle school. My daughter is half-way through her first year there. I like that there are no bells. Although there is a lot of emphasis placed on acheivement, the school counselors and teachers have been very understanding and willing to work with my daughter's mental health issues, once they knew about them. (Anxiety and depression have challenged her ability to complete assignments.) The school is clean and the teachers and staff work hard to prevent and stop bullying.

This is an excellent school. It has supportive teachers and administration. The staffs at the front office always very friendly and offering help. The school psychologist Dr. O is professional and patient.

My son has not been at the school long. It's a pristine school - very clean, and seems disciplined. One criticism is that the 'placement' tests were never explained, which isn't helpful since we are foreig. Hope to have more positives to add as our relationship with the school grows.

All teams have weak links to contend with. But overall this is a focused learning environment with some GREAT young teachers.

My daughters both attended EMMS. They were different level learners, but the school was good about putting them into classes that challenged them. The were encouraged to do their best. The facilities are fabulous. The schooll is very clean. They value and encourage parental involvement.

This school is excellent. My sons and daughters arent nerds and they state that this was by far the most best and educational school ever met. They tell me the teachers are all great and when you do bad.. you get the point. But overall is cleanleness is superurb. I would like to congradulate Mr. Goins for his outstanding was of running this school.

The school is a fabulous learning environment! The programs they have for their gifted students are astounding! Led by an energetic and enthusiastic GT Resource teacher, my children have grown in confidence, and skill and have thrived there because of this. Everyone has a home at Ellicott Mills.

Not only does the principal have a no-put-down policy, where negative or derogatory comments are not accepted, but he and the teachers are devoted to the students. The teachers all strive to help their students achieve success. I am a student at Ellicott Mills Middle School, and I feel that I am getting one of the best educations I could get in middle school. All of my teachers are instructive and fun! Each teacher has different teaching styles, but they change them sometimes so that everyone understands the material. Everyone is nice to each other and I feel that EMMS is one big family. All of the staff and students are helpful, and new students fit right in as if they have known the other students for years. Ellicott Mills Middle School is an excellent school for learning, morals, kindness, and friendships. (review done by a current 8th grader at EMMS)

Ellicott Mills Middle School is simply great! the principal is very capable and has made the atmosphere good enough to take the anxiety away about entering middle school. The staff is very responsive and the front office is helpful. Indeed a great team.

This is the best school bar none I have ever seen (and I worked in the educational system for many years). The principal is very dedicated, in charge, and a true leader with vision. He sets high standards for all, and creates effective pathways for teachers, parents, students, etc. to meet these standards. Because he puts forth 110% effort, he expects (and will accept no less) from others. The atmosphere of the school is positive and carefully cultured to emphasize values, responsibility and integrity. This school is a very shining example of how wonderful a middle school can be.
