We have moved around alot and last year my son was having attendance problems. I must say, they entire teaching staff, both vice principals and the principal and Ms. Williams, everybody attended the meeting. They took all the time that it took and even waited for me to go and get test results from the doctor's office. I have never had the amount of positive attention at any school and I feel like they really care about my son. It has played a major roll in my decision to stay in Hagerstown. It was almost time to change jobs again and my son wants to stay at this school. I like the school and I like the people. We are very happy here. I rate this school highly and we have been to many schools. Upper and lower range. This school is a good one. Parents, get involved. They really care

northern middle school has intelligent kids that are smarter than most kids.what can have teachers that can teach better than any other teachers ive known. we have a great school curriculum for students in 6th,7th,and 8th. we make kids comfortable while in 6th grade at hard times by having web leaders.any kid would love it there anyways because this where teachers are nice but can teach at the same time, this is where you can make friends easily as well.if you,re a parent this is coming from a students view dont post bad things about our school and say 'this is unlike other schools' in a mean way because you wouldnt know what this school is like now so dont judge it because were not like other schools, sure we may have problems but what public school does'nt? our school is unique in many ways your child would like so dont judge us.

NMS is a great school... The PTA is very supportive; teachers are professionals; the new principal is doing her best! I believe that this school gets a bad rap at times due to the continual change of leadership and some student problems. I think that many of poor reviews from other parents is fair but at times not realistic. I'd ask current parents to communicate more with the school and be more open...

This school is a disappointment. I wish teachers would follow thru with children who don't follow the rules. It would be nice if the front office secretary greeted you when you came in. This school has many other issues that need to be addressed. I have been involved with administration. Hopefully, this will make a difference.

I agree with the last posted review, the parent-teacher conferences which are planned, are only for state numbers. The teachers are given no time to actually spend with parents to address real concerns. I have encountered each of the administrative staff, and neither are for the students. It's all about 'technically kids don't need to spell words correctly, as long as the teacher can read it' and false promises from teachers that say they will help and never follow through, but expect a child between the ages of 10 - 13 to deliver consistantly and follow through. This school is only about barely making the scores.

I asked for a parent teacher conference that was planned almost a month in advance and when I got there, all of teachers were late and all of them had to leave before I was finished the conversation. I left with unanswered questions. I also feel that there is a lack of consistency and effort displayed by many teachers. Rules are made and then discarded. I agree that the teachers may be doing their best given the high demands but we shouldn't lower our standards because of that - we should bring in more teachers.

NMS is a good school. Teachers do their best ... however with all the demands, meetings, and press to make scores increase. The enviroment is safe... everyone does their best... NCLB makes you question if it is worth it or if there is a better way to assess students.

I have attended Northern Middle for three years and all I can really say is that it isnt the best school and it isnt the worst...however it is a good school. it's just sometimes they get a bad wave of kids, and it isn't their fault. I do like the school and I am glad that i got to experience this school, besides, it's on the north side of town, GO NORTH!
