I have three children at McLean School of Maryland and I am extremely pleased with their progress. McLean is no doubt one of the best school in the nation . McLean brings out the best from each child, and the staff are wonderful. I cannot say enough great things about McLean. My children are not only flourishing in academics, but also growing into confident individuals. McLean is like a big family where each care for another in a genuine manner. The leadership is phenomenal. The teachers are warm and welcoming and eager to help and very knowledgeable. My kids want to stay at school . If you want your child to grow into an intelligent, confident , well rounded individual, this is a school you want. Don't waste your time anywhere else. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT SCHOOL!!!!! Deserves 20 stars!!
My child is flourishing at the McLean School in Potomac (not to be confused with the Potomac School). It's a friendly, fun place, where they accommodate different learning styles while challenging the students. Highly recommended.
McLean continues to be one of the best decisions we have ever made for our daughter. She is challenged and engaged in a caring environment by true education professionals. Yes, there have been recent administrative and faculty changes. As parents, we have seen these changes unify the staff, curriculum, and community at large. The new Head of School does not have a teaching background, but has plenty of experience in schools and has taken great strides to put knowledgeable teaching faculty into place at all levels of the school. Most importantly, we can see the effects on our daughter as she has developed into a confident student; someone willing to challenge herself in not only in the classroom, but in sports, music, art, and among her friends as well. There is no doubt that our daughter will be well prepared for college and beyond after her years at McLean.
I was concerned to see the most recent post stating that McLean used to be a good school. It is still a very good school. I do not deny the statements made about the new head of school, but let's give him a chance. The prior head of school was no great shakes either. No school is perfect, but McLean has wonderful teachers who understand kids who learn differently. The teachers and staff care about our kids and help them to succeed academically. My son has flourished. at McLean. Instead of being discouraged by school, he is motivated and cares about succeeding.
The McLean School used to be a good school but there have been many recent problems with the administration and that turmoil has had a drastic, negative effect on the overall program, especially the middle school. The recent hiring of a Head of School with NO education credentials, NO teaching experience, NO special education experience, and his only experience with independent schools is with the budget and financial functions (again, NO experience related to the educationl aspects of schooling). It is alarming that The McLean School would take this direction and put children's education in the hands of such inexperience (for $35,000/year). Teacher quality is also suffering as good teachers are leaving because of the recent history of poor management and administration. Be very wary of sending your children here. This year will be our last after years of watching the program decline.
The mcLean School is easily one of the most overlooked schools in the greater Washington DC area. My son is currently enrolled after having attended another highly rated school in the District and it has transformed my demoralized boy into a confident and thriving student who is clearly on the path to success. Finally! A school that teaches and not rely on kids who teach themselves!
Both of my children go to McLean School. As a family we all love McLean. We love McLean because it is a very friendly and warm place to learn. We love all of the teachers and staff who respect the children as the children respect them. As a result the children learn to respect each other. The teachers don't just teach one style like many schools do. They realize that all students do not learn the same way, and so they teach in many different ways so everyone can learn. The teachers are always ready to take time to help the students with any problem whether in class or out of class. It's a GREAT place to learn!
My son attends. Amazing school, everyone is very nice, strong curriculum, high expectations and top notch teachers. My son loves it here.
This is the best school ever. I went here for 7 years. It was the best thing that had ever happened. The teachers are calm and welcoming and lovely to you. There are the nicest kids here. It could be your next school the key is Study, Raed, And Focuss on School work.
