Sunderland provided an excellent foundation for my two children. There is a great sense of community and the faculty and staff truly care about the kids. We couldn't be happier!

My daughter attended Sunderland from kindergarten to 5th grade and had an incredibly wonderful experience- academically, socially, and emotionally. The school offers after school clubs which make it easy for busy families- our favorite is Girls' on the Run. The caring staff works very hard and technology is constantly being updated. There are now Smartboards in every single classroom. I can only pray that her middle school experience will be just as positive!

This is such a great school. My daughter entered Kindergarden last year. It was a big challenging due to the transition for her, however the teachers and administeration were great in helping us work through this. This year she entered first grade and is doing well. My youngest entered their new pre-k program for siblings and she can't be happier. I can't say enough good things about the school and the support of everyone.

We are a military family and have moved a great deal. This is our fourth elementary school over the years and it is the BEST!!! We are getting ready to move again and the one requirement for the realtor is, 'Keep us in Sunderland!' Best staff EVER! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The FSO is always planning something. You truly can't find a better school!

My oldest child just started his third year at Sunderland Elementary School and my middle child just began kindergarden. I can't say enough good about that school! Everything is organized and there is constant communication between the staff/teachers and the parents. I especially enjoyed the kindergaren experience with Mrs. Lori Cooper!!! Awesome teacher!

Sunderland Elementary has grown incredibly in the last two years. Along with the growth came new students, families, administrators and staff. The beauty of it all is that Sunderland was a great school when it was small and has remained a great school now that it is larger. The push for technology is greatly appreciated by students. Smartboards are in many classrooms. The climate in the building is positive. Students are working hard and having fun learning. Our son and daughter have received outstanding care from dedicated staff members and teachers.

Good school, but we were redistricted here from another county school 2 years ago and very unhappy. My daughter went from a class of 18 in her old school to a class of 27 here. Supposedly her old school was over crowded! She had a very bad first year at Sunderland. Guidance counselor and principal were of no help. Second year was much better with new principal and counselor. Classes are still too large though. Parent involvement is high, but I feel like there is a small group of parents who want to run everything and not very welcoming to new people. There are a good choice of extracurricular activities, but they fill up so fast that many kids are left out. The school is just too overcrowded. I think Calvert County did a bad job of redistricting!

My son came from a private daycare center and we were very impressed with the Kindergarden program at sunderland. The FSO, or the PTA as most people know it, is VERY involved and raises thousands every year for the students. We dont live in Sunderland's district, we applied for a transfer to get into this great school. In my opinion, better than Plum Point and Windy Hill.
