My son has great teachers, His social Studies teacher, Ms. Hoover is th best. She keeps the parents informed, she clearly does this because she loves what she does. My sons English Teacher is great as well, she wants the kids to do well. I know good or bad I will be informed and that helps everyone. I can not say I enjoy the behavior issues at Mattawomen but it takes a lot of parent involvement for this to get resolved. When teachers willing to take the time to pick up the phone, email and update their edline frequently they help us all.
My son is in his last year at Mattawoman and I've never had a bad experience in these past 3 years. I must say I am highly impressed with his Social Studies teacher, all teachers should be like her. She makes sure she emails us (parents) their homework and upcoming tests. HIs Counselor is always a call away, I have no complains.
Mattawoman is the worst school ever! If I could I would give them a minus zero! I wish they would rezone so I could get my kids out of there!!
I am new to Mattawoman, but not new to Charles County, so I have a fair perspective of what the standards of a school should be. Mattawoman is BELOW county AND state standards as far as state testing, which basicly explains how well the students are being educated(not very well). Innapropriate behavior and language is very common in the students. The luches are overpriced and unhealthy. Although, I am impressed with the new 7th grade vice principal, because she is not mean at all, but she doesn't tollerate nonsense from her students.
I am a student at mattawomen currently in the 7th grade and its horrible. I fyour a substitute you get cut no slack fights almost everyday teachers being treated like nerdy students and no body cares about anything they do what they want to and it crowded everything is 10 plus years old we need lots of help please teachers come with a good attitude because the teachers there now just care about they money not the students
I am a 8th grader at mattawomen.I understand the issues we have but are school still should be respected and not discouraging everyone thinks its a horrible school but its not most parents are going off what their children say and if u ask some more kids their u will better responses i have been their for 3 years and have and older brother who went too mattawomen and we find the school not perfect but okay i think everyone just needs too wait and watch for improvement and stop judging mattawomen so much and give it a chance.!
my opinion is this is the worst school ever and if you are a parent of a child at mattawoman middle school you should take your child out of here now if i could i wouldnt give them a star at all
My daughter is now in her third and final year at Mattawoman and it has been a pleasant experience. A new principal was appointed this year and so far so good, but I was disappointed the counselor my daughter had since 6th grade was replaced with the counselors the new principal brought with him. I had a great working relationship with Mr. Gammons and I have a great relationship with the 8th Grade Vice-Principal Ms. Caballero. It seems the children respect her and she is really the only one they as a group respond to. Most of the teachers are very responsive, but there are a few that are set in their ways and you to let them know you are involved parent and expect them to communicate with you.
Just started this year with a 6th grader. We're not only pleased with the school but espically the new principal, Mr. Dolan. I think he's doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work......remember it takes a village to raise a child.
I am an 8th grade student at Mattawoman Middle School. And all I can say is that Mattawoman is disappointing. The school is un-orderly, most of the teachers and staff are rude, everything (desks, cafeteria, gym, etc.) is outdated and needs to be repaired, and the principal is always unaware/clueless as to what's going on. There is a lot, and I mean a lot of he say/she say drama. If your the type of parent/student who is not into drama or doesn't want their child getting into drama, please on't send them here. Overall, this school is ok, but not the best. It needs major improvement.
