The school is having issues. Weak principal and teachers that do the bare minimum.

I was very worried about the 'open classroom' design of the school when my daughter started at WES. I have nothing but praise for the school now! Both my daughters have done exceedingly well - the teachers are awesome, the staff is friendly, the test scorea are some of the best in the state! My only problem with the school is that the mothers of students can be somewhat exclusive and a bit uppity - the PTA does great work but I never felt accepted there. There is a certain 'type' that fits in, and I never was the right type. I am very sad to have to leave the school after 3 years. I know we will never find such a great staff and excellent education in another public school.

My son has been to private school as well as another local public school. I must say the Westminster Elementary School is much better than both in numerous ways. The staffing is incredible. We thought the open classrooms would be a problem since our son has ADD. The open classrooms are actually a benefit. He has learned to ignore outside sounds and movements. The teachers are very well trained and truly want the best for the children. I give many thanks to WES Faculty for all their hard work.

I've had kids in WES going on four years now. I love it and so do they. I was terrified, hearing so many say negative things about the open classrooms, but it's not been a problem at all! All the teachers I've personally experienced through my children have been fantastic! My kids are learning and getting good scores on report cards and MSAs. Discipline and grading are appropriate. Even the special needs programs (my daughter needed speech) are wonderful. Can't think of a negative thing to say about Westminster Elementary!

Open air classrooms and class size are a drawback but all of the staff and educators are very professional and work well with what they have.

Do not like the open air classroom. Class size is very large, there are 27 kids in my sons 1st grade class. Would love to put my son in a closed classroom environment because I think it would benefit him educationally. Unfortunately, this is not an option.
