This school saved my daughter's life. The compassionate clinical staff and the incredibly gifted teachers worked together to support her at her lowest. She graduated and is now in college-successful and happy. Can't say enough!
My son moved back from The Victor School to his sending school, and while the transition was successful (thanks in large part to the hard work of Victor's staff, readying both he and I for the transition), we are missing the supports of the Victor community. The caring, the outreach, and the unconditional understanding of our son's struggles was paramount to his success. While we are glad that our son is better and doesn't need a therapeutic school, we do miss the collegial way in which staff worked with both him and us. A great school, a great experience, and got us to our goals!
My son graduated from TVS in the spring of 2009. He started to attend the school in the 10th grade. Although some of the teaching staff didn't quite 'get' Aspergers when he first started, by the end of his time there, they were better able to understand his challenges. The staff was *always* kind - a very caring group that is able to manage kids with severe anxiety issues.
We were very disappointed with The Victor school. These approved schools of the DOE, of which Victor is one, leave much left to be desired still in the many venues of education from the top on down even in this century. It is our fervent hope that for future generations requiring services in the Pupil Service Dept. in MA that many things (which are too numerous to discuss here) will change for the better in providing the needs for students at risk of all ages.
The Victor School has been a Godsend for my son. He was a very depressed, highly anxious 14 year old when he started at the school. Two years later he is a different kid; learning to handle his emotions and cope with life. The saff is kind and caring and the live by their motto of 'kids do well if they can.' KR, parent
I had been to numerous schools prior all had given up on me. Staff at The Victor School were very supportive and caring and really helped me turn my life around. I am now in my third year of college made dean's list and am majoring in psychology. The Victor School is one of the few schools for troubled teens that actually has their act together.
The Victor School is a school I would recomend to anyone who has teens with learning or emotional difficulties. The teachers are kind, understanding, and are eager to help in any and evry way they can. The clinical staff are well trianed and have a lot of experiance with dealing with teens who need extra help. Most of the students have an above avrage IQ and are friendly. Speaking as someone who went to this school as a child I can tell you, it has done a world of good for me. But be aware that only 45 children are able to attend at any given time, so apply while you can, spaces fill up fast. The school has a wonderful art program and music and Guitar classes, and is a good placement for most of the students who go. Parents go to meetings, and are kept updated on progress.
