Hardy is a great neighborhood school and has a wonderful feeling of community. The parents are involved and I love all the events the PTO runs...thank you! The teachers have been great, my kids have liked/loved every one and they have been very accessible whenever I have needed to ask a question. Great school, we love it!
I have to say that every teacher my children has had at Hardy have been wonderful. Ms Dusombre, Ms Picarde, Ms Doherty and Ms DeCifuentes have all been great for different reasons. Even Ms Mann to left the school is still wonderful when I see her on the street asking about the kids. I feel the environment must allow teachers to teach as they do a great job.
The 3 C's...Caring, Conscientious, and Confident- my children actually get a weekly report about how they have done with the 3 C's not just academics. I love that my daughter would do great with the first two but not as great with the "confident" part and it made her work on that and talk about it with me.
Great community, short walk to subway station after dropping off kids at school. The drawback is a classroom size. it can be up to 27 kids (with one teacher.) when the school of nearby town has kids around 20, Hardy tends to have around 24 kids per class. Not all the teachers can successfully manage a big classroom.
Great elementary school in a wonderful little community. Kids at Hardy are taught not only the main subjects but also instilled with the lessons of good character and positive behavior. The teachers so far have been great and many of the children seem to have very well educated, involved parents. Most of the kids walk to school with their parents and its been fun to meet and make friends with our child's friend's parents.
