This school reflects the breakdown in the American society. Public education has not been supported in the last three decades. People with money go " private" where strong discipline and academic excellence are promoted. our society is more segregated now than ever before in it's history. Our leadership (both political parties) have been driven by aggression, arrogance and greed. Our youth are disenchanted, disillusioned, discouraged, disorientated and consequently apathetic. A VERY SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS!
I think someone needs to take a good look at this school. My child has gone to HMS and ELM Street and those 2 schools were great . They want the children to do very well. The middle school as long as you show up your good. These kid are going to have a hard time when they go to high school. I am looking in to a new school for my child, It is to bad they dropped the ball when it comes to the middle school. I want my child to get a good education.
I went to Gardner Middle School's Open House last night. I was Pleasantly Pleased with the School's Presentation/Organization. Meeting with my son's Teachers Briefly was intuitively positive.
This school is not declining any longer. The current principal, as of the current 2006-'07 school year is the same whom was principal of Gardner's foremost elementary school. His performance has been proven in Gardner for over a decade or so and he truly is very good. There is no question, in the minds of many, that this school will turn around in 'the minimal' amount of time. (Thank you Mike Hurd.)
My children have both had wonderful experiences at the Middle School. I was extremely happy with their teachers and found them very helpful when I was concerned about their progress. With one child in need of some sped services they were so helpful in getting her the help she needed. Many of the teachers are as concerned about class size as we all are, but without money there is little they can do but deal with what they have. I have had numerous opportunities to participate in activities at the school, through the PTO and as a volunteer. After 3 years, all of them on the honor roll, involved in sports and in band my youngest is heading to the high school well prepared because of the attention she received from her teachers at the middle school. It is what YOU put into it.
Leave the kids alone that want to try and get the kids who don't care out of there.Stop picking on the kids that are having an awkard year finding themselves and give them a chance to get back on track instead of brushing them off when they try. The principal is not the problem the teachers are.
The Principal needs to go!They need to recognize the problems and fix them rather then brush them under the rug. The majority of the teachers in GMS need to look into a new profession as they should not be teaching. There are a select few that are truly Great Teachers and there should be more like them!
Time to get rid of the Principal. The Superintendant has already gone. The problem lies with them. The school remains in denial of any problems. Constant cover up. All the families who have been able to move away ... have moved!! What is left?? SCARY!!
