Mediocre all the way. Overrated to say the least. Lousy teachers who went to crummy state colleges. Prep school for me! I value my education and after enduring this dump for a while I learned what a truly good school is like.

A great school now being almost totally rebuilt; something like having a private school - but property taxes are deductible!

I find that LHS, although may not always live up to it's reputation, to be a great school with lots of opportunities for most students. AP and Honors students will benefit, as well as those students that may find challenges in the classrooms who can take advantage of the great Careet Tech Program through LPVC. Most teachers seem to be excited and competent. Spec Ed teachers are caring and supportive. My only fault of the school is the deterioration of the school itself. For a town that has largest income per capita in the area I have issues as to why our high tax dollars do not go more into updating the High School. Been talked about for several years, but never done. Unfortunately, this lowers the standards of a great school.

the school itself is really... how can i put this..... a dump, but the staff, students & classes are very good. We have soem of the most interesting teachers who make it fun for us to learn, the students are very outgoing, friendly, athletic / artistic and eager to learn, and their are many classes for us to take from the standard math science englsih and history there are also outstanding music and art programs, and some fun business classes. The lunches are actually pretty good, we have hot lunch, deli, salad bar, snack bar and others. If i had to chose between any ofther school and this one, i def. would choose LHS!!

I went to LHS for freshman year. It can be dull if you're not in any honors classes (those teachers are the most interesting ones, complete with senses of humor) It's easier to start out taking honors classes than to switch into them later, so I suggest starting out with a few to begin with, then pare it down. I do know a few people that have overdone it with taking 4 honors though... a scary thought, as each Honors class can have up to 3 hours of hw a night. It's much easier if you come in early to study. As for music, art, and sports, there are some very talented people here, but there are those who just take extracurriculars so they have an easy class. Sports isn't very big... Parents have almost zero involvement, but that's okay if the student is self-advocating.

This High School fits the standards of very smart to very needy children and young adults. If you miss just one class you may find yourself behind everyone else and then getting a bad grade on the weekly test. The school itself is very small and simply doesnt fit the standards of longmeadows reputation. Large Classes and a shortage of teachers are a massive problem in learning.

Large classes; good school for math and science. If your kid is below average or artistic they will feel lost.

Considering town budgetary problems, this school is a fine example of education at it's best. Large class sizes do pose a threat to the students who do not excel. The school does thrive under the no nonsense Principal. The building itself is a bit dismal though.

This is a school where an average child will slip through the cracks very easily. The above average are catered to as are the learning disabled. On the plus side-it is a safe environment.

Our son was very successful at LHS and went on to be even more successful at Clemson University because of the education he received at LHS. He's a Mechanical Engineer in management for GE and the Top Graduate of GE's Operation Management Leadership Program.
