Henry B. Burkland Elementary School 3

If you can, avoid living too close to the school and subjecting yourself (and your child) to the worst pick up/drop off ever. The school expects you to cram 30 minutes worth of traffic into a 10 minute block of time. Cars are going everywhere and you have to rely on inexperienced crossing guards that are too concerned with socializing for direction. I have witnessed car accidents. It is just a nightmare. The school is not worth the headache/risk. The school itself is okay. They do many school events and the kids love it (though it can become costly). The school always seems to have their hand out. The school supply lists are costly and specific. You buy for every child in the classroom, not just your own which this past year resulted in $40 worth of school supplies for a 2nd grader. The school seems to have it's own agenda. Some of the teachers are great and others are a concern. Many of the support staff come across as stuck up - making it less welcoming. Overall the school has potential but not without the right staff with the right priorities set.

There are teachers that do not provide enough and there are teachers that give out too much.

All of the people there are nice and care a lot about the children.

I believe this school has its priorities in the wrong place. There are to many children in each class and the children who have behavioral issues are the ones who get the most attention and the children who are average or above are ignored. I am overall very unhappy with this school system

Great school my children have learned a lot. Great music program, music lessons, learning any instrument. Great swim program in the pool for gym. The teachers really know how to teach these kids and prepare them for middle school. Both of my children are doing great and just fine on their MCAS.....it's a secret gem.

This is a pretty good school. It has wonderful teachers who really care. It also has a swimming pool where your child will take swimming lessons a few times each year. However, the older part of the building, or 'red road' needs some renovating. Also, the music program is steadily declining and now excluding kids from getting the proper teachings in music that they need. This is an all around pretty good school to send your child to for a good elementary education.

This is a wonderful school with caring teachers and administration they meet each childs needs one on one and keep parents informed with all aspects of education. I am very happy that my son enjoys his school day and every year he has had very devoted teachers who really love their job, it makes going to school easy. I feel the classes are a bit large but the teachers seem to have control and they learn together and get time to work with the teachers together.
